Thunderbird Club

OK you guys have seen a pic or two of my Epi Pro-IV. What color pick guard should I replace that ugly tort thing with?

I would only ask such an otherwise potentially self-demeaning question here... But I need this thing to acquire some vibe, see. It is not so naturally imbued with such as the more 'Classic' versions. Will do mods, but it's going to be a little time coming.

Opine, anyone?

Here is O'l Blu
Deep Dark tone and lots of neck dive. I will have to instal a new chrome button behind the neck. Am contemplating a different aluminium pick guard.

She needs a setup real bad and I would move forward with that but the truss rod is super mega stiff and I do not want to break it. Of course if that does happen it'll become a 7ender bird.

There has to be a penetrating fluid / lubricant that I could be used without f^€king up the wood? The stuff I have would work but i can see it on a dozer mor than on a guitar.

Ol' Blue is inspiring me a little. OK, a lot. The bolt-on 'Bird is here, and is as I expected. Its finish is the usual Epi inch thick poly that would probably survive a trip to Japan being towed behind an oil tanker. A little sanding and it would probably take another finish pretty well. Maaco, perhaps? I haven't messed with it yet, so I don't know how the truss rod or action is. There's a little corrosion on the uppermost frets, but the strings appear to be brand new. Used instruments are always a bit of a mystery, which is part of the fun. My Gibson was absolutely pounded when I got it. This one appears to have spent the last 15 years in a closet. I'm right there with you as far as moving the strap button. The first mod will be drilling a hole in the neck plate so I can put the strap button in the correct location.

And now the correct number of Thunderbirds is one more, again. It's amazing how hard it is to catch up to that number.:roflmao:

t'was a Green Xmas here, & now it's a "cocaine" new year! Music did lose a lot of great artists in 2015, & as much pain it has brought some, their legacy lives on.

& here's to the fellow Brethren of this Club. From around the world, one bass has brought us together, as one big crazy family! To our health, families & bird hunting ;), here's to another great year with you all :P

Looking good!! I would stick with the reflector knobs myself. Works well with the chrome hardware.
