You could SURLY fit a Bird case in the back of this trunk! Wow - love this car.
Man! How I wanted one of those! Instead I got one of these:( (not mine)

And you could certainly fit your Bird case + backup Bird in this one!
I'm gonna hope i can jump on this to escape it all. Not sure i'll make it out alive.

... Not so much. But props for coolness factor.

Is your G tuner ever so slightly crooked?

[edit] not that there is anything wrong with that.

hrmm....in that picture, it does look slightly off, but I don't think that it's actually off. I'll double check when I get home tonight, but it also looks like, if it really was that crooked, that I'd definitely feel that when tuning so, for now, I'm going to go with it's an optical illusion in the picture. I'll report back later

Ironically, I thought his D tuner was off.
That's what I was thinking as well. The G and A tuner key stems look to be perfectly perpendicular to the cut of the headstock (see how the white nylon washer aligns with the edge of the headstock), while the D and E tuners seem to be ever so slightly tilted down towards the body. Of course you'd have to be a total OCD freak to ever notice. Or better yet, where's @PillO he never misses a detail in a posted photo.

In any case, I'd rock that bad boy hard, looks like a beautiful bird!

Here's a fully reversible mod that literally came from a dream I had. The '51 Precision bass was always one of my favorite tones and since it didn't require any cutting on my Epi T-Bird Classic IV Pro, I had to give it a go. Absolutely love it. So now I'm the happy owner of a P-Bird! Turns out neck-thru mahogany works great with a SCPB pickup! Disclaimer: in order to get the standard SCPB pole pieces to line up perfectly with the strings, I did have to slightly trim the base of the pickup on opposite corners (about 1/8") just so I could get the right angle. But I honestly like the idea of having the poles a little closer toward the neck on the lighter gauge strings to fatten up the tone a bit there, relatively speaking. I realize the open bridge cavity, unplugged volume control hole, and showing pickup leads might bother some -- and I did think about making a cover and mounting ring, maybe installing a mini-toggle to select between two different tone caps -- but after taking a step back, I honestly dig it just the way it is.
Don't get me wrong, I've always been a fan of Thunderbird pickups with a nice set of heavy nickel roundwounds, but in my current band the SCPB pickup with flatwounds just fits the bill.
On a sidenote, as a result of this happy metamorphosis, the USA TB Plus pickups from this bass have made their way into the TB classifieds, just in case anybody is looking for a healthy set.
Anyway, hope you guys don't hate me for genetically engineering this bird! I swear it felt no pain ;)

Interesting mod. Ya need a block of mahogany to fill the bridge pup cavity. Or you could mount a Go-Pro in there.:smug:

Well, this looks like a first around here, I like!!!

As a person who has driven vans for years and years, I have heard all the free candy jokes. They are all incorrect. My van says "free champagne" on the side. I go for a different demographic. The sign is at least as successful as being a bass player.

Maybe "Free CBD"? As J.Geils says, first I look at the purse.

Was honestly debating a second SCPB in the bridge cavity as well, but I feel like the tone is pretty perfect as is. We'll see what future dreams bring though... a go-pro could make for some pretty interesting music-video footage contributions!
Another thought I had was to just put a black p-bass style metal pickup cover over top of the cavity, but I like to slide around the position of my right hand for different tones, so that would probably just get in the way

Maybe you were missing something in your signage?

That would've worked! I know it!

Or an interesting NR for those who play the right way around.

It's in Japan. I looked at eBay for a short scale, mostly because we have been slacking in our enabling duties. Nearly every Thunderbird on eBay is in Japan, and I didn't bother trying to figure out how many of the listings were duplicates with the exact same pictures. Trying to sift through all that would be way more trouble than it's worth!

That Greco sure looks good, though.

I used two Seymour Duncan '51 P Bass pickups in this 7enderbird.......It was a fun "beater" bass1

That's been up b4. You'll forgive me if I have a certain skepticism about "shipping from Japan" and dread of customs fees.

No problems at all shipping from Japan, I've had two Birds flown in, everything was perfect, no fees either.

hmmmm.... you just gave me a way to possibly get my PJ-Bird without having to destroy/ route the snot out of it! I think I'm going to grab a used EpiBird from one of the local GC's and start looking for the parts I'll need ...
