Well, after my shortscale project fell through, I continued to play my epi-bird and search. I now have a blackburst dingwall D-bird on the way! Im very excited. I know that it only looks like a bird and will be very different in feel, playability, etc.

I tried several different brands of flats on several of my basses, my TB included and just couldn't gel with them. The closet that I've come to them that I really like the feel and sound of are D'Addario & LaBella's black tape wounds. You get the feel of flats as the absence of string noise while sliding from note to note that flats allows for but you get a slightly brighter sound... well not brighter... just less dull & thuddy, if that makes sense

I HATE getting texts when people know that I'm driving. The conversation that inevitably occurs usually goes like this:

Them: Did you ever get my text?
Me: I heard the alert while I was driving.
Them: Why didn't you reply?
Me: ... I was driving
Them: Why didn't you reply when you got where you were going?
Me: If it was so important, why didn't you type the 10 digits of my phone number and get an immediate answer instead of typing the dozens and dozens of letters of your text, only to get no answer and then have to wait to ask me to my face anyway?

I have the urge to try the LaBella white tapes (in either gold or copper flavour). They are supposed to feel like tapes, but be brighter. But right now, I don't know what I would put on them or why I have a desire to try them.

For me, it was for a specific song that has a very quiet beginning and I needed the bass to be as silent as possible. However there are lots of slide transitions in that section, and round wounds, no matter how light my touch, kept creating artifacts on the recording that stuck out like a sore thumb.
