I know people in Midnight Drive and in The Midnight Drive- one in Glasgow and one here in Austin. The only reason they became award of each other was having me in common on FB.

Funny - yah, I cracked up seeing the 'The Sean Conneries from Slovinia' fb page. International intrigue! Three of the four of us were in Bond Girl, and TSC's was initially a spin-off lark that turned into a band. "connerie' in French means "foolery" or translated back to English "a damn-fool thing to do", which sorta fits as in, why would any sane person be in a band!

There is a death metal band in Jakarta called 'Devoured' and another metal band in Texas 'Devoured TX'. So we are DEVØURED. No one is ever going to confuse us. We're the ones singing about glitter and unicorns.

Can you say Devoured as two syllables? If so, you could do a cover of Jocko Homo replacing Devo with Devoured. That would help with that 30 minutes of music to fill 45 minutes problem.

I can fake this ok with rounds but it really calls for flats and a mute....so typical of the era..

That's either a P-bass or a bass that is dialed to sound like a P-bass. Great tone/feel.

I'd forgotten how ******** DEVO was in the beginning. The guy at the head of the business table's voice sounded like David Lynch. Until they did the closer shot I thought maybe he was somehow involved with them!

Any thoughts on the Seymour Duncan Custom shop Thunderbird Replacement pickups? I've seen a lot of commentary on the sets offered by Mike Lull, and Thunderbucker Ranch but not much on the repros produced by Lollar or Seymour Duncan.

Putting off fixing this zebrawood bird. I see folks are using "Tight-bond" wood glue. Is that better than epoxy, experts ? Another part of me wants to route out a pocket and bolt on a short scale neck and a 60s style bridge.

Titebond and a solid connection securely clamped - all shards of wood need to re-mesh exactly to assure a solid joint.

IMO it’s nowhere near “bolt on neck conversion” status.
I would use hot hide glue myself, but titebond will work great.
Epoxy will work, but it’s harder to clean up.

Use the green label Tite-Bond III.

Zebra birds are relatively rare. You would preserve much more value by repairing than by cutting off the neck.

I am a big fan of epoxies. Epoxy is the duct tape of glue. You had best mean it though. Once it is epoxied, it will not come apart again. Also, wearing latex gloves is a good idea if you want to avoid a week of peeling epoxy off your fingers.

It is called gluer's panic for a reason.

Just a quick repost from many moons ago on this thread...

A quick two part bass safety hack for those of you with hanging basses residing in a seismic area.

Part one - I use Hercules hangers because they have an easy to deal with automatic captive lockdown system but any hanger with a captive strap to keep the bass from easily falling out would work.

Part two - cheap guitar (not bass) gig bags allow the headstock to protrude enough for hanger access, and protect the basses from damage as they rock back and forth possibly hitting each other or the wall. They also act as a nice dust cover for the majority of the bass. Also easy to slip on and off without taking the bass off the hanger.

The hack worked really well in our recent SoCal quakes.

First quake on Thursday caught me by surprise. I checked mine that were hanging from the Diamondlife system that I installed some months ago; no issues. I ran in there during the aftershocks after the second quake Friday and saw a slight bit of sway. I’m not worried...so long as I make sure to fasten the straps.
