Thunderbird Club

I can't believe no one has said yet...

Welcome!

That is a nice Lull! Play it well. The Queen @TBird1958 is travelling but should be along soon to welcome you and fill you in on the welcome package.

Some of us are no longer satisfied with the coconut bra needed for playing a Thunderbird and have moved to more comfortable produce.

^^this is what happens when you have too much time, alcohol and watermelon on hand.

Rain this morning, so giving paddling a miss. I'll make up for it later in the week...

Paddling yesterday (before the thunderstorms were forecast).

Good news:
No bull sharks,
No orcas,
No sea monsters,
Lots of people stayed home instead of going out on boats.

Indifferent news:
Hot and humid, but I had (lots of) (potable) water,
Windy, but not so windy that forward progress ceases with gusts.

Bad news:
Headphones quit after 5 minutes.

Rant:
Should have thought to charge those headphones up, but really, shouldn't the charge be good for more than 2 hours? Shouldn't I be able to paddle two days running on one charge?

The lake level is finally falling!
compare yesterday to two weeks ago

But lower still isn't anywhere normal. This is usually a peninsula a few feet above water. It is still almost navigable in a kayak.

Pity the poor critters that had homes there (chipmunks and rabbits); they are flooded out. Which accounts for the lack of eagles - their prey has moved further inland, so I haven't seen any yet this year. But there seems to be an increase in marine birds. Probably a result of fish having increased foraging area and so an increase in prey.
Cool. Yesterday was this:

My daughter lives in Orlando; I live in the Stuart, FL, area. When I go to visit I take a road (CR 523)between Yeehaw Junction[real name!]and Kissimmee that goes through cattle country, parallel to some good size lakes. It's a rare trip I don't see eagles, and ospreys are very much in evidence. There is an extensive eagle chick raising program in that area(they take a second egg from a nest and hand-puppet raise them). There's also a Whooping Crane nesting-and protecting-facility nearby. I know where it is but it's restricted access, which is good. Anyway, they taste just like Spotted Owl so why bother.:nailbiting:
Now you've done it.:rollno: You are likely being doxxed as we speak by some tolerant person in their mother's basement. Now we'll all know how to visit your NRs at will.

Might be better now. 2(!)convenience stores/gas stations including a brand new Pilot TS.
Uptown! I figured it had to have grown in 40 years.
That whole trip was bizarre. Getting stuck in Yeehaw fit right in. Then again, most of my hitchhiking trips to central or south Florida or back to Atlanta ended up being adventures.

Well, the beer goes without saying!

After paddling yesterday, I had a noise session with my brother. We had:

a little fruity, not too sweet, great bitterness, and a nice coconut finish.

a bit of tropical fruit, but all beer.

We played some "music" as well.
Punked up Edmund Fitzgerald and Steppin Stone (Monkees arrangement with Sex Pistols crunch and attitude) as well as a few others. We need a vocalist who can "growl" those two songs; neither of us is smart enough to "sing" and play at the same time.

As long as we are on fruity beer...

Anyone ever try this one?

I tried it out of curiosity once. And then had it again on purpose several more times. I really does taste of banana and beer. And it is really unexpectedly good.
Yeah, wasn't knocked out but it was quite good. Haven't seen it for awhile.

I lived Fear and Loathing in Ocala in 1978 or 1979. Ohio plates, a seedy bar, and barbeque on the wrong side of town were involved. Nobody was harmed. It was a miracle.
