Thunderbird Club

View attachment 3482929 View attachment 3482930 I’m out for a walk this morning, just a little outside of Sequim, Wa., an ancient wooden truss railroad bridge, once part of The Milwaukee Road. The second shot is from mid span looking south toward the Olympic mountains

The sign is obviously written by a lawyer. It purposefully omits the oxford comma to ensure that the intent is clear that you can't climb on the bridge nor can you jump or dive off it. But, if you are a normal person who expects an oxford comma, a quick reading leaves you thinking that you can climb on the bridge, but you can't climb off it.

One could reasonably argue that if one managed to jump AND dive, that is allowed. Not one or the other, but both.

Rain this morning, so giving paddling a miss. I'll make up for it later in the week...

Paddling yesterday (before the thunderstorms were forecast).

Good news:
No bull sharks,
No orcas,
No sea monsters,
Lots of people stayed home instead of going out on boats.

Indifferent news:
Hot and humid, but I had (lots of) (potable) water,
Windy, but not so windy that forward progress ceases with gusts.

Bad news:
Headphones quit after 5 minutes.

Rant:
Should have thought to charge those headphones up, but really, shouldn't the charge be good for more than 2 hours? Shouldn't I be able to paddle two days running on one charge?

The lake level is finally falling!

But lower still isn't anywhere normal. This is usually a peninsula a few feet above water. It is still almost navigable in a kayak.

Pity the poor critters that had homes there (chipmunks and rabbits); they are flooded out. Which accounts for the lack of eagles - their prey has moved further inland, so I haven't seen any yet this year. But there seems to be an increase in marine birds. Probably a result of fish having increased foraging area and so an increase in prey.

I can't believe no one has said yet...

Welcome!

That is a nice Lull! Play it well. The Queen @TBird1958 is travelling but should be along soon to welcome you and fill you in on the welcome package.

Some of us are no longer satisfied with the coconut bra needed for playing a Thunderbird and have moved to more comfortable produce.

My daughter lives in Orlando; I live in the Stuart, FL, area. When I go to visit I take a road (CR 523)between Yeehaw Junction[real name!]and Kissimmee that goes through cattle country, parallel to some good size lakes. It's a rare trip I don't see eagles, and ospreys are very much in evidence. There is an extensive eagle chick raising program in that area(they take a second egg from a nest and hand-puppet raise them). There's also a Whooping Crane nesting-and protecting-facility nearby. I know where it is but it's restricted access, which is good. Anyway, they taste just like Spotted Owl so why bother.:nailbiting:

Good sound is a rare blessing. Turn down the damn kick drum fer chrissakes!

I'll say! That is one trend I don't care for. It reminds me of when car stereo's started getting more sophisticated and everyone would max the bass - unless it's Dub or Reggae it's just too much low for most music. I also remember friends in High School that had a reverb unit in their cars - all that 8-track cassette in deep reverb regardless of the music. A song like Crimson & Clover which already had a lot of reverb became alien music from outer space! (more than it already is!)

If the soundman does it just "right", you get the 'thump' and no bass pitch at all.:banghead:

I may have mentioned that I spent a year in Yeehaw Junction one afternoon, trying to hitch a ride.
