Thunderbird Club

Looks like I will be playing electric bass instead of drums with the guys I just started playing with. They have a friend who wasn't available but was a long time professional drummer. He's head and shoulders better than I will ever be as a drummer. But, the rhythm guitarist/singer was playing bass and didn't really want to. Turns out I'm a lot better bass player than he is. Things work out. Plus, the Thunderbirds have another excuse to come out to play. Life could be a whole lot worse.

Sounds great! Hope it works itself into a good band:hyper:

My 2013 Epi 'Bird sounds gnarly and pushy through this little pile here (old and use-abused Eden D410T under the last-gen UK Trace head). I'm swapping my AH250SMX in the photo for the identical preamp version, and sticking an old Peavey 1u poweramp with it. All my cabs are smallish, and 4 ohms, so I can run two at a time with the preamp-only version, instead of just one (the 250w integrated head only does down to 4 ohms).
Also, a "touch board"-similar to the venerable Chapman Stick- may be in my future... there's a dude who makes them and I've got a 10-string design that's after the Reverse Tbird shape.
Anyhow, this preamp voice and boom-box makes the sound go...

*Edit... I wonder if I could use Thunderbuckers, arranged in a split-coil configuration, for pup's with a 10-string thingamajig?...*

I should'a stood my 'Bird in front of it...
This is mildly amusing... I went and did the swap on the way home from work today, and I discovered, upon pulling out the 250w amp from the Gator rack case, and putting in the preamp version, that I'd been using the rack case upside-down all this time. Of course, most wouldn't notice, but it felt a little funny to find out... and all this time... I'm an oaf.

That's much too low level to qualify as an oaf. Now if it had caught fire because of the installation, while you played at a funeral or wedding, you could claim some pretty good oafness.

Up the irons!

I only mean it in a light sort of way. I do know the meaning of the word, however! No one has suffered serious injury, just the occasional stubbed toe or embarrassment. :)
