Thunderbird Club

Lol. Being married can (I say CAN) put a crimp on hauling in new trophies. In such case, one appreciates the moment, and lets the bird fly back to her bush, as it were... ;)
Well, that's a game changer.
Thunderbirds are cheaper than divorce lawyers, stick to the 4 bangers and keep clear of the band bangers.

Things change, seasons come and go. They'll see another day. Hey I have a mutt P-Bass and a Japanese Ibby, different flavors.

However at last Fri night's reggae fest, a pretty girl approached me and was admiring my T-bird as it was going into the case. "That bass is beautiful", she said in a dreamy voice... Lol. It's Thunderbird season!

My Thunderbirds are the only bass guitars that anybody ever notices. I have had a Ric, a P, and a number of other bass guitars, but 'Birds get the audience love. You would think somebody might notice an EB-2, but that one never got any attention, even from the inevitable weird guy, let alone girls.

I had something similar happening once as well...

We were doing a support gig and I was playing my white Classic Pro and my Goth.

I was approached after the show by this girl (and her boyfriend), who really liked my playing and the 'birds and told me she had a Goth herself.

Later while the headliners were playing, they went home to pick it up, and brought it back to the venue, for me and the rest of the band to sign it! :)

That was a first... :)

Same here. No one ever cared about other basses I own/have owned. Custom Hoyt, G&L's, Lakland, Fenders, Ric, etc. The Tbirds (the white one especially!) get far more love from folks in attendance.

I haven't played out my Tbird on stage yet but used to get a lot of comments from the ladies about my Spector Bird with the Holoflash finish. It loves the stage lights and rapidly changes colors as the light hits it from different directions or if you view it from different angles.

There was one time it nearly caused a chick bar fight as two different (very drunk but quite attractive) girls were complementing me and chating me up between sets. One girl loved my pretty blue bass and the other one loved my pretty red bass, they ended up in an argument about the color of my bass and one of them took a swing at the other, the bouncers stepped in and broke it up.

Funny thing is, they were both right, I'm sure from their different viewing angles it was both those colors.
No pic of the chicks, but here's the bass...

& i'm caught up with the club! haven't gotten notified in the last few days. I heard about Bowie the morning after i got back from visiting my dad in ottawa. Real sad, my best story of him wasn't seeing him live or just on tv, but when i was born, my dad used to play bowie albums while i fell asleep :)

Bowie was one of those guys who made different from mainstream feel amazing. One of a kind! Another 69 years off to his home planet

So, did you bring the Grapper Bass to your dad, and did he like it? ;)

Speaking of cases, does anyone or anywhere make decent soft cases for Tbirds? I picked up one the other day and it had a thick layer of dust all over it. I don't see myself going back to playing my Tbirds anytime soon, and I haven't played either of them since April. My Fenders get all my attention these days.

I'd be interested too. The FenderBird I built doesn't have a bag that fits it properly. My local store has a lot of bags, but none of the fit as it's just a little longer than your average Fender.

Ritter and Crossrock makes some nice affordable ones specific for Thunderbirds...

There's also Rockbag as well, but they are a bit more expensive, and there are a few others as well...

Well, it's no wonder, really.... Fender's come by the gazillions and have used that same old tired design for 65 years, and Squire G&L Lakland and Sadowsky are basically "just" copies of that design, so there's nothing new to get excited about there either (however good they may be).

The Thunderbird you don't see that often, and it really does stand out in the sea of bland 7ender and 7ender lokalikes...

I do think the Rick's do stand out as well, though...

Thunderbirds are chick magnets, but better than porn.

So, did you bring the Grabber Bass to your dad, and did he like it? ;)

Nope, too heavy so i'll bring it some other time. Besides i have to dismantle it & radius the fretboard, & varnish the body again cause it's not thick enough to cover the flakes as they still dig into my arm (roughness)

Don't forget to report back when he gets it! ;)
