Hiwatts and Birds just work...

Every time I hear a TBird solo played with a pick I just drool. I'd love to be able to get that sound, but no matter how hard I try I just can't get past the fact that the learning curve for that style of playing throws my bass playing ability back decades. It's like starting all over again.

yeah, it plugged into a 426 Hemi..
(In my best Mr. Mom voice) ... 426, 427, whatever it takes.:D

I whipped up a quick prototype for you! It's 35W and 3945 12AU7's in the power section and 55 12AX7's in the pre-amp section :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Looks like a great way to heat your house!

yawn....:D...

these will run on 120Vdc and have REALLY low output Z....16 of these could potentially create an all tube power/output transformerless bass amp that on paper could put out over 300 Watts and weigh 20lbs or less...
Do it! Would sell like hot cakes and might revive the vacuum tube market.

I'm way behind on the thread, 6 nights in Las Vegas will do that to you. Went to practice last night and didn't take the Lull T5 because I was running a little late and I keep a very nice TI strung Squier P5 there. It plays and sounds nice, although I did notice the E string getting lost in the mix. After practice the band asked me to keep bringing the T5 because of the deeper tone and clarity. This is a 3 piece Hard Rock band. Lesson learned, may be I'll take the Roscoe Signature SKB 3005 there as a backup instead (my Classic Country band kinda likes the Squier P5 for some reason).

The band wants to do Trooper by Iron Maiden, so I may have to revisit trying a pick (last used one in the 80's).

Steve Harris doesn't use a pick... Not that it has any bearing on your decision to use/not use a pick.

But I'm familiar with 12A?7s... And the goal isn't simple, the goal is stupid with huge redundancy and stupid. And the transformer is integral to the 'tubey' sound.

But feel free to forward that suggestion to Ampeg and Traynor. You never know and there could be a nice consulting fee in it for you.

And one foot on a monitor.

Helps with using the bass like a gun.

All while mouthing all the words.

He might be actually singing, just can't hear over the band. And he does do back up vocals with a mic.

He also uses flats. Good luck!

Which makes me think maybe I should do a trial of RS77s on the 'bird (ahem).

And he wears shorts on stage. Show the rest of TB and wear the shorts!

Yeah, I'm not a computer guy. Univac1 was the tubey computer I could pull off the top of my head. If memory serves (and it might not), it was the first commercially available computer. Also if I remember correctly, It was Thomas Watson of IBM that estimated that the world wide market for computers was "perhaps six".
