very cool...where's that venue? like it....let me know when you're playing next, i'll come up..

It's a place in SF Tenderloin called PianoFight. We got the gig through Kirstin who has performed ensemble comedy there. A big bar (where the stage is) and 2 small theater spaces. Throughout our 2 sets the place filled up and then dispersed into the theaters a few time. It's like playing at Grand Central Station. I'll PM you a list of our upcoming shows.

That is the coolest bass! 7ender did that Rascal ss a few years back that looked kinda cool with lipsticks. Tried a couple of them, but didn’t like the necks for some reason. Just not comfy.

A bass that echoed the Coral Deluxe Bass more specifically was the recent Ibanez Talman - The body outline is nearly the same - it just doesn't have the edge taper like the Coral and it's probably thicker. (and heavier) The thinner body (1-1/4") and tapered edges help as the Coral body is pretty big.

The Talmans look nice. I like some of the colors. I find them heavy, even the short scale. Atypical, for Ibanez, thick necks. They seem to play ok, but....Don’t care much for the pickups or the pickguard which you can get in any color, as long as it’s tort. I do think the lower end versions are a reasonable first bass for someone wanting something different looking. Of course the Epi IV is the better choice.

Yah, when I first saw them I liked the way they looked - but never played one. I think they were going for a retro-vibe with the thick-neck and 'look'. Figures that they are heavy.

Thanks! Lots of possible sounds from it, but I haven't yet done much exploring because of the current project. One interesting thing is that the little time I do play with it here and there and then put back on the Thunderbird, I get such an "Ahhhhhh" moment of relief.
Those Hi-A pickups are rare! But so is the bass.

Most of the time, I have neck at 9 or 10, and bridge at 0 or 1. (Non-extremes are very approximate. Every once in a while the neck drops or the bridge cranks, possibly even swapping those. Swaps, when I need them, annoy me; it’s one reason I am considering switching from VVT to VBT. With chickenheads.
I like chicken heads. No guessing where they are pointing:thumbsup:

The volume on my Thunderbird pickup is either 100% or 0% -- no need to see/guess where anything is pointing. Speed knobs are the schizzzzz.

I would have said that in future should I acquire a not-Thunderbird electric bass, the type with initials J and C, I would leave the electronics stock, but maybe blutack the tone on 100% (because the damned things sometimes move even when you never touch them), thereby negating the imperative to see where it's pointing ... but I'm not going to.
