Thunderbird Club

Well club, I have to say I'm moving on - the shorty Tbird is up for grabs in the classifieds now. Needs the kind of home where someone will continue rocking it as hard as the guy who did before me. Maybe I'll end up with a short or medium NR though at some point. Lowe's and Cataldo's offerings are just super tempting.

@Kriegs

Weren't you after one of these?

Welcome BuddhaFingas,

Please ask every question you'd like to here, the guys and gals enjoy helping out and there's a vast pool of knowledge here for you. Also, if you're just starting to learn we have some excellent players here as well. The usual initiation is to wear a grass skirt and coconut shell bra while dancing around a large fire, ;).
You are #777 here, again, welcome!

Thank you for the fine welcome, your Highness! And the wonderful lucky number!

I'll get to work on that video... though finding adequately-sized coconuts might take a while.

Meantime, here's a preview of how it'll probably look:

Mahogany Monday! THUNDERBIRD!

I thought about whether hiding the laminates was a good idea or not before pulling the trigger on the PinkBird. Now that's it's done, there's no second thoughts. The laminates sure are pretty, though.

The PinkBird has me thinking bad thoughts about getting the '01 painted, too. Would a coat of nitro with color in it do anything to the pixie dust? It sure would look good some exotic color. What an awful idea!

I wouldn't touch the '01, considering the mojo of which you speak. That's why you should get another THUNDERBIRD to have your exotic way with.

Yer doin' the coconuts all wrong! ;)

:rolleyes:I wonder, does Gibson make THUNDERBIRD coconuts, maybe in mahogany with walnut stripes?

Yup and I've been working furiously all morning since I got to work to transfer money around and getting together funds to make an offer to @DDXdesign !

Yay! Go for it!

Most excellent!

My experience with Boomers left me soured on GHS products. I understand that not liking one product means nothing about others, life is too short and there are so many string choices so I just took GHS off my list. It was an easy cull. My experiments seem to be mostly limited now to DR, D'Addario, Rotosound and some others.
I'm not crazy about Boomers. Sound good with come cabs I've had--nothing special with the three cabs I currently use. I love GHS Pressurewounds and Precision Flats. Both amazing, for what I'm seeking. On the other hand, I've yet to find anything of D'Addario that I don't strongly dislike. I do like some DRs and Rotos. I have some nickle Swing 66 that I might try on something again. Used to use them in the 80s.

Seafoam or sparkly yellow.

Thunderbird!

It's Mahogany Monday all day long in this time zone...

...and happy hour with G&Ts and a shout out to @Klondike!

Even the amp has Gibson DNA in it, still the best sounding SS I've ever played through. And for those that don't believe in mixing speaker sizes in a cab - this 1x12+2x10+horn Berg is living proof it can be done with great sonic results (but not exactly the benchmark for portability).

Don't do it! Never mess with perfection. Instead just buy a used Eppi VP with Mahogany finish and send it out to be stripped and painted a vintage sea foam green, would go beautifully with pinky!

Actually, I've kicked around the idea of having a VP stained in 1970's era Fender Three Tone Sunburst and adding a Tort guard just to taunt the Fender boyz. A dramatic burst like this or even brighter...

I didn't realize that it is Mixed Driver Monday on a Thunderbird Thursday...

Or is it Monster Bassist Monday with background Thunderbirds (for a Thursday)
