Thunderbird Club

I used something different at practice tonight. '62 Jazz with different strings, that weren't idea. It sounded nice but after two songs I was missing a.......you guessed it....Thunderbird. I've been playing them so much lately I think I'm getting spoiled. Even really nice basses are not sounding fantastic anymore! Some of it was the string change. Normally I use Fender Pure Nickles on it and tried some GHS precision Flats (which sound great on my other Jazz). I'll be putting a new set of Pure Nickles back on. But sure love the feel of those flats.

Another action shot of Chuck Garric.

Buyers remorse, I guess. Who knows. I would rather have a vintage Thunderbird, but I still would love to play it to find out what it does. Who knows, my mind can change. It is still out of my current disposable income range.
Don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t do anything toward making me play better.

I’ve pretty much lost GAS for anything but. Wanted a Ric forever. Now not so much. Wanted an Adam Clayton J (beautiful Sherwood Green with matching headstock). Played a used one at GC Hollywood around last January and really liked it. Fair price too. Didn’t buy it and had regrets. Went back some weeks later (didn’t bother to check beforehand) with intent on probably buying if they still had it. It was gone. It just wasn’t meant to be. Now I don’t think I want one anymore. I’m eyeing a used Epi 4 that I’m thinking about getting and upgrading the bridge and pickups on, maybe tuners. Don’t know. I’m locked and loaded, ready to pull the trigger...

Good gig. I had a few weeks to get comfortable with eight songs, one of which I had to come up with a bass line of my own, since it was new. I was Plan B, since the bassist who was supposed to play wasn't able to make it. If anyone knows the band Spiral Jetty, they played before us. Technically they headlined, but wanted to go on second. So if you want to look at it this way, Spiral Jetty opened for us. But I wouldn't say that. Great band and super nice people.
