Thunderbird Club

And that, my Queen, is what makes this club a rockin lotta fun!

You and every member here welcomed me with open arms and treated me like a blood brother when all I had was a kinda sorta Tbird looking thing made by Spector. It wasn't a Gibby, it wasn't an Eppi, it wasn't a Cataldo or a Lull it was a Korean X body shape bass with a funky paint job.

Never once did I ever receive any shame, grief or even a hint of inferiority. The result of all the inclusion in this club is that I stayed involved in the Tbird discussions and learned more about the Gibby offering and the actual lack of it's so broadly claimed shortcomings to the point where I took the Gibson dive and found a bird I love as much or more than my Spector.

Each bass has its strong and weak suit and they compliment each other quite well. I would never have found that out if this club didn't exist or if it followed the same recipie for inclusion as the Jazz club.

God save the Queen, and bless all her royal subjects!

I'm getting kind of tired being one of the few defenders of Gibson truth and honor on the "what do you guys think of Gibson bass guitars thread". One of the TB posters is a Fender fanboy and is absolutely convinced that every Gibson bass ever made sounds like mud. He knows this for a fact because in the 1970's he owned a 1960's Gibson EB-0 with a mudbucker and absolutely nothing at all has changed about that bass in the last 50 years, the current SG is identical. Oh, and it applies to every Gibson including our beloved Tbirds, which obviously have dead spots up and down the neck and sound like a Ripper or EB-0 bass from 30 plus years ago.

I'm only posting this because I've seen a lot of Ric love in this thread even from our Queen. I'm also posting it because I could "help" make this happen for any of you guys if you're so inclined since it's not that far from me in Novi, MI.

Everyone's got a bird that's different from the others. No two are the same, even if they look the same, might feel the same (gibson & epiphone wise) But most of us have taken to modifying out birds to our personal liking & touch. I find it quite interesting when someone shows their "creation" off even if it's just a matter of swapping pickups & upgrading a few parts. It always adds a touch to what we seek for our style of music.

There's never a judgement against anything non gibson/epiphone. Some time long ago, we've pointed out the number of manufacturers that did have a thunderbird at some point. Most are rare & never seen, others fly by occasionally. We're exclusive, in the sense that we accept all shapes forms & size of thunderbirds.

I'm pretty glad that as of july 2011, i got my first thunderbird that's been, & continues to go, through mods after mods to achieve my own look & taste. & also, that this TB club, is the first i've ever joined.

I love Rickenbacker 4001s truly the bass I regret selling was my '73. I always think of the Rick guys as our brothers here as they often get slagged on too.
