Thunderbird Club

I hope you like the BBE SS - I could live w/o it, but it became a mainstay in my chain since getting it.
Thanks. If not, it won't be the first time I've spent money in search of even better tone. I like my tone, but if something can improve it a little, I'm all for it. Even if no one else notices and it makes me enjoy playing a tad more it's worth it. If not, I bought it used (power supply and a couple cables), and can unload it for nearly what I paid. With just a typical 3 band Ampeg EQ it should add a little flexibility if nothing else. Doesn't seem to be much on instructions online that I've found. (Turn "this" and then "this" happens kind of thing.)

Here's whole thread dedicated to just White basses. Unfortunately, it's sorely lacking in THUNDERBIRD content. You bird owners with white ones should post some pics over there...
Show your White Basses!
Indeed! Bring a little class to the unwashed masses. Then again, they may all want Thunderbirds! White Thunderbirds no less.

Painting a white VP:rollno:.

Leaving it all white and shiny with chrome:thumbsup:

Glad you changed your mind!:D

The white was my favorite of the 3, but I am normally not into white or black for colors on a bass so I had it in the back of my mind to change, then I saw the blue one...

To see it in person on stage and then playing it live was the difference maker. It just looks beautiful up there.

The blue one i so desperately want, may end up being a fenderbird...;) . eventually anyways. I want to let this dust settle first and see if I can start sourcing parts on the cheap...;)

It doesn't really do a lot, but I really like what it does. It's like it defines/clarifies the tone w/o changing it. It's pretty intuitive having only two controls. I leave mine set Lo-Contour 11:00 and 1:00 Process, and I tweak the Lou-Contour for my hollow body.

While not a drop in only very minor work is required to fit Thunderbird pups into an Epi bolt on body, the pup bezels will more than cover what needs to be removed.
I don't own this one anymore, I think another to replace it is in order.

Like. Ya!!!!!!!

Necks and perceptions of necks can be a funny thing. I felt a small degree of trepidation at the prospect of the P neck on the JAEbird. It turned out that it wasn't as much of a telephone pole as expected, however, after a couple of months I started experiencing pain in my left wrist/hand which was not there when playing my other basses. Replacing the P neck with a J neck fixed the problem. No more P necks for me then. The J necks feel a little more substantial than the Orville neck and that isn't a bad thing. To a certain extent, it's probably down to the difference in fretboard radius.
My brother had hand problems with P necks. He had a P and swapped in a J neck. I do not have any issues with carrier deck P necks or smaller modern P necks. My problem comes from neck angle and wrists. Good thing for options. And Thunderbirds that will hang out in a near vertical position and solve wrist ergo issues.

Great! Thanks for the info. Sounds a little similar to a SansAmp VT I used to use in front of SS amps. It could really color the tone, but I used it more subtly. I don't know what it did, but it makes every SS amp sound better and bigger. I still use it as a DI so I can adjust my amp and not mess with the signal to the PA.

I use the MXR d.i.+ at the front and have it set flat mostly, but always on. It's my DI port for FOH. I sometimes hit the distortion when goosing my MXR Deluxe Fuzz.
