...I suppose I could just continue to use it as an initial capture device. Then take the playback to a digital file converter (or maybe to my iPhone with the right patch cords) to get it in a sound cloud format so I could post to bandmates for their collaboration. But to be honest, that sounds a lot like a duct tape and bandaid solution.
this is a great value;

I've been playing around with friend's Audient (UK Company) ID 4 which has a JFET DI input and it works really well;

I’ve talked of my affection for them before. They were generally dismissed by critics. But sold a ton of records early on and had a resurgence with We’re An American Band and the cover of Locomotion. Most players I know really appreciate them. About as American as it gets. they made 8th grade special for me.

You will love this if you haven't seen it.

Similar to my 4 ch. rig. You could see what you could do with it b4 shelling out shekels.

I was at my buddy’s shop talking guitars when I noticed a BC Rich headstock. Hard to believe it was that colour!
The former owner was over-zealous while stripping that lovely blue, so it’s going to end up thinner than it was originally.

He has the gold Schallers and bridge (not a badass but just as heavy) as well as the Dimarzios and wiring harness.

If he ever decides he’s not going to get it done, I have dibs.

Nice bones.

I thought this was interesting. The Varitone knob from the Eagle fell off. Hopefully it's just the set screw that got loose. But besides it having a noticeable heft to it, maybe because of the metal (brass?) insert, on the underside it says it was made in Japan. These days it's probably mostly made in China. No comment on quality differences, but I just thought it was interesting since this is from the '70s.

Edit: just realized that the other word on there is 'Japan' backwards, for some reason.

I'd like to keep it under $500 if possible. Not looking for anything super fancy, just super easy. As far as learning new software goes, I'm not a Luddite by any stretch and am very capable of working my way around software ins and outs, but I'm gonna be dead stubborn on the plug and play thing.
An Audio interface can be had for C$130.
Steinberg - 2x2 USB 2.0 Audio Interface with 1 x D-PRE and 192 kHz support
M-Audio - 2-In/2-Out 24/192 USB Audio Interface

Audacity is opensource (free) and available on a variety of platforms.

Audacity ® | Free, open source, cross-platform audio software for multi-track recording and editing.

For recording, I use either a Focusrite 18i20 or 2i4 into my PC running Reason 10.

When I want to record something quick:
  1. Turn on the laptop
  2. By the time I've plugged my bass into the interface and gotten comfy on my stool, the computer is booted and ready
  3. Double click the Reason icon
  4. Wait for the program to load
  5. Click Add Track
  6. Click Record
  7. :bassist:
Total time elapsed: Less than a minute :thumbsup:

This is the same process I use except I have a dedicated (old) desktop, and I use Audacity.

Simple and easy.

Q for Home recorders.

If you record a piece that recurs in a few places. Do you record it once and edit it in? or record the whole song as a piece?
If I’m just putting an idea together, I will copy/paste.
If I’m tracking for a project, I will play as much as I can in one take, and then re-record sections as needed to get it right
