Yah, I hear you about "mega-stars", especially ones that I don't really follow or know much about anyway. (like KH) I've met and talked with a few local cats who would be considered by most as legendary players/musicians (Bobby Vega, Nels Cline, Michael Manring) but they are all pretty down to earth. My gf was in a bathroom once standing next to Lady Ga Ga - just two women adjusting their make-up on a day-to-day human level.
I met Doug Wimbish. Monster player. Really nice guy; we chatted about life in the military and why Alaska and the Yukon are so beautiful.

Well done!

Hope you got Geddy to sign it (either the book or the bass).

I heard an interview with Geddy about the time the book came out. He said that he made fun of Pete Way for playing a Thunderbird but that once he started collecting, he suddenly "got" the Thunderbird sound and wished he had known about it much earlier in his career.

That’s a great bass book. A co-worker if mine got me a copy last year for Christmas and it’s awesome! Of course I went right to the T-Bird section - Geddy has an amazing set of Thunderbirds; but I wish he would have played them more on his recordings. From his testimony in the book, he appears to have discovered the T-Bird sound pretty late in life, but it makes you wonder how good a song like Red Barchetta would have sounded with a Thunderbird holding down the bottom.

Makes me think that if he had done with a Thunderbird all the parts he had done with a Ric, then maybe he wouldn't have moved on to Wal etc.

And if only Gibson had made Lemmy a medium scale `bird as he had asked...

Maybe TB would be a different place with people making fun of those that choose to play 7enders. Claiming that they are impossible to EQ, the necks suddenly snap with no provocation, and that no serious professional would ever use one.

For that amp. I have had things, not just amps, that were designed in a way that made them virtually unfixable. It is frustrating when some minor issue makes one of those useless. If you can substitute parts and come up with workarounds for that kind of thing, my hat is off to you.
you’d be surprised how many folks want their stuff fixed even if the cost of the repair goes for twice or more than the Reverb rates..

I played a Les Paul Junior DC bass in a store the other day. The short scale neck felt a lot like my 67 EBO.
Which got me thinking how cool it would be if Gibson (or Epiphone) put a 30 or 32 inch scale neck with that profile on a NR body....
We can dream right?
I haven't seen one in my local L&M yet. But I am looking forward to trying one out. Could be a good addition...

It fits the direction I was expecting the reborn Gibson to take - close the price gap between Epiphone and Gibson with some new offerings.

I picked this up for a decent price last night. First time as a GK owner so I need to get familiar with it. For those of you that have used the 700RB for your Birds, any tips on what settings you preferred?

Congrats on the find. Gots to admit, dunno nuthin' 'bout them. ('cept it looks heavy.)

I believe the stats list it at 78 lbs. Not horrible but def not class D weight. Has a retractable handle and wheels so not bad to move it.
I had one of these(not mine in pic, mine was in better shape). Too damn heavy to lift inandout of van. Sold it.

I'm currently building similar. 32" scale set neck NR, single pickup, 2+2 headstock, Pelham Blue. Just waiting for a replacement for a blown bandsaw tire to finish the body rough cut. Neck profile is close to both my '67 EBs.
