Thunderbird Club

I like the Stingray Sam.

I've gotten interested in Crobot recently. Not sure the description - alt rock, post punk, riff rock? Plug in and play loud.

According to a mention on YouTube they are "Dirty, groove rock". Males sense to me. I had kind of forgotten about them but I like this better than GVF.

It's fun, catchy, and has a beat I can dance to - I'll give it a 9 Bob.

Cool video and song. Looks like either an SG or an EB0 (never get a good enough look at the headstock and I'm not going through frame by frame to find out).

Maybe Dirty Groove Rock is the new name of Riff Rock? Too many genres for me to keep track of these day. I guess I am back to high school categories - music I like and music that SUCKS!

I like GVF and I like Crobot. I would put both in a similar category, but I can't say that I like one more than the other.

I ran across Crobot a few weeks ago when it turned up in a Spotify "music you might like" playlist.

Well what do you know. Another Maniacs fan. Hey Jack Kerouac is one of my favorite songs of all time. Love Natalie!

I also am fond of that particular song - but in this live version, the guitar is really annoying. Ruins the vibe. (but I still like the recorded version)

Jazz schmazz. I hate to ruin everyone's evening now.
So totally not TBird related.

Denny Walley at 2:41 on. What? It's ok. Or not.

(cool bass) The ultimate 'opposites attract' two disparate artists collaboration (not especially this song - just their 'working relationship' in general)

On a related theme (musically)

I remember when that came out. A guitarist friend liked it - me, not so much. I could only handle so much prog-rock...
Watching the video, it is quite possible that the keys/flute/yodeler/whistler suffers from Tourettes. Or maybe it is just the drugs that were around in the early 70s.

I always liked Hocus Pocus but didn't care for their other music. I can understand those that don't get prog rock. I also have sympathy for not wanting it in massive doses.

So because of timing, I was really receptive to all exciting new music when 'prog-rock' surfaced. Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report (from day 1), the first King Crimson albums, a roommate had Gentle Giant LP's... (into Yes etc) - so I have a soft-spot for the 'roots' of prog.

Diversity is the key. Yes, ELP, Genesis, Wishbone Ash, Bowie, Alice, GFR, Neil Young solo and with the Horse, Jefferson Airplane, Sabbath, Quicksilver, Love, The Allman Brothers, first and second generation Fleetwood Mac, the Underground, early Eagles, New York Dolls and of course the Beatles, just to name a few, were all blasting out of bedroom circa 1974. Can’t say the album that song was on got a whole lot of play on my table.
