Thunderbird Club

i guess it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things but since a Thunderbird without an amplifier can't do much other than look spectacularly sexy, we discuss amps the same way strings/pups get discussed...different brands, materials, construction, types, etc have a huge impact on how the bass will sound/play...pretty much the same applies to amps..
Agreed. It's just that when some folks get to talking technical that some other folks(definitely me)are lost. Not knocking it, just don't 'get' it.:help::confused:

totally understand. PM me if you'd like, i would happily explain....in this case (in a nutshell), much like we discuss the type of woods and how they sound and how much they weigh, amp topologies (A, AB, B etc. are topologies that make up the type of amp much like front wheel, rear wheel, all wheel drive would be in a car) have the same impact on amp power, size and weight...

I have seen injuries in 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Although drinking was involved, it was the activity that caused an injury!

see my last post above :D And you've never witnessed a drunken badmidton game? :blackeye:

I need a definition on number 5.

You guys talking Ten Pen ? Or Lawn ?

I submit that Lawn Bowls is worthy of inclusion. A game beloved by the white leghorns and behatted section of our population.

Bocci-ball works - but lane bowling is what I was referring to. :)

ha! last i checked, dropping the ball on your foot is not part of the game, is it?..

You'd think it was considering on how often it happens! :D Maybe the rental shoes need to be steel-toed!

Yeah, after I posed that question, @RedVee answered it. Then, semi-bored, I searched it. Well, waddaya know. Club directive says: ask questions, we discourage using the search function.
ironic to have an Aussie (no offense Geoff) explain that term to us lol....but at the end of the day, that's their name for it..

I loved lawn darts! I don't know what ever happened to our set.
I still have a set.
If I get time today I'll post a pic of it and a thunderbird - kind of the yang and yang of the entertainment world.

And for the record - yes, the lawn darts are my set from when I was a kid. My brother and I would set the rings about 50 feet apart and play both offense (throwing the dart at the opponents ring) and defense (trying to block the dart from landing in the ring). This, although dangerous, was entirely too structured for two teenage boys. The games usually quickly evolved into "Dodge Dart" (not the car) where we would throw the darts at each other. If it hit you, you were out (maybe for a long time) but if you caught it the other guy was out. We both drew blood many times, but we're still alive. Stupid, yes, but it was a great eye/hand coordination excercise and even helped us increase our pain tolerance thresholds. All part of growing up back in the 60's and 70's.

The next level up from rock fights.

Apparently they missed you too!

This guy!

Would you buy a "gently used" bass from him?

Had plenty of those too. Living in the mountains in Colorado while a teen with the nearest neighbor over a mile away forces you to play stupid games with siblings. Those games would always evolve into something more dangerous. We'd start with a pinecone war, which doesn't hurt at all until someone lobs a 1 pound green sap filled one at you. Like any war, escalation is inevitable. The green pinecone escallation would be met with a quick escalation to rocks, which would eventually lead to punches being thrown, and then a call from mom to come in for dinner. A quick trip to the bathroom to wash all the blood and sap off and we'd be chowing down food at the table like nothing happened. All in a days fun.
