Thunderbird Club

My bad marriage advice is better worse than most others... Worth every penny; you will pay for it.
Not worth nearly the number of pennies it cost you to develop and refine. It sounds like you have invested great time and treasure to perfecting this advice. Getting a return is going to be hard, even if all of us follow your advice.

Well you people aren't helpful. I just bought this VP. Wife approval included. That makes four Thunderbirds now (and the old Epi Embassy).

Not sure what this will look like upon arrival and there may be some crazy stuff going on. Hopefully the send what's in the pic.
Ah, so you got it. I'm happy it's in the family.

we went as the French secret police at last night’s party in Pebble...pretty outta control gathering....French champagne flowing like water.....don’t these people work?..:bored:..

Well, if it gets returned by you because it doesn't play well or work out well, chances are 1. It's not coming back to a store in Mass and 2. I would probably reject it for the same issues that you found :)
If it gets returned, don't return it. Just let us know - there is at least one CroMagnon who would play it with issues for the right price.

We'll see. I'm not wanting to get my hopes up in it being in "great" shape as indicated. I'm a skeptic by nature, but sure am hopeful. Even if not in great shape, it still seems like a good buy. As long as there are not funky neck bows or twists all should be well. It's a chance worth taking.
There was a CP at the local Guitar Center about six months ago. It was missing its truss rod cover for some reason, and looked to have led a somewhat strenuous life. It was way up high on their used bass wall, like they wanted to hide it. And it was dirt cheap. When the salesman got it down, it was pretty obviously (to me) a good one. The action was about where I like it, the intonation was good, and it rang out unplugged. No dead spots or any other weirdness to tune out of it. It was beyond cheap. I don't remember the price, but it was something like $199 if I remember correctly. I might have weasled them down to $150 but didn't. Then I made the mistake of telling the sales guy what it was and what he was looking at. I think he might have ended up buying it, because it disappeared shortly after that.

Ooops!

My bad advice is scientifically tested. I have done randomized, controlled trials with multiple parties and results on file at PillO HQ demonstrate that my bad advice is better worse than comparable advice. As for cost, you missed the implication - YOU will pay for it.

But the great thing about taking my bad advice is that you have the freedom to buy as many Thunderbirds and related gear you desire.

I admit(being a GOF)that I can be a bit of a PITA about playing my THUNDERBIRD any place I have room for it, but I feel I'm most comfortable and thus play my best on my 67 NR.:):bassist:
wouldn’t say I play my best on any of my basses but something about high alcohol consumption and my 68 in close proximity that makes me a little edgy.. then it’s no fun...

I'll still give that a Pffft. Routinely -40 and colder at night. Highs that didn't break -20 during the day. And we went on exercise in that weather. Sleeping under canvas, doing everything outside without heaters.
Pfft... When I was a kid growing up in Antarctica, I routinely had to walk to school in temperatures approaching -100F. . . . barefoot and without a hat. ;)

Yeah, I hear that. Ironically, the initial crack in my HS was the result of non-drinking unsupervised kids running through the bandstand(no stage):banghead::mad:
