Thanks, something I came up with a few basses ago. It makes the reach to the higher string tuners a little easier. Basically they're perpendicular to the neck edge instead of the headstock edge.

If one were to use regular sized clover/elephant ear tuners on a modern sized T-bird headstock, the tuners would touch each other when in line... But if the tuners were mounted perpendicular to the neck edge rather than to the headstock edge, would they touch each other or would they go clear of each other?

I have noticed a huge difference in mu tuners. My first Epi IV the tuners are kinda sporadic they stay in tune but when dialling it up they pop sometimes. Ol' Blue(goth) i bought Hipshots and oh man is that smooth! Definitely worth the $$. This summer there will be new tuners on the first on mentioned.

Right now? All my money is going into my bike. New shocks, can hardly wait!

My bike is well clothed these days. I had a Bandit 600 and bounced the bars that protected the cases off the ground in a corner, never mind grinding the pegs flat. That's when I bought a sportbike. I swore I the pegs would never touch down. That happened in about two months. That's when I figured out for sure that I'm an idiot and went on the track. That's how you settle down on the street. Well, me anyway.

You are ansolutly right. I happen to have a free trackday hanging up on my wall right now. Its is deffinatly going to be a fun day! And although I like to ride pretty hard I never "push it" over 7 or 8 out of my 10(abilitys).

I want a bike so bad.:(
Used to race motocross, enduro and trials in the mid 1970's and was sponsored by Suzuki but that was all off road and a long long time ago. Haven't had the time to get back on a bike since then, but now that I'm retired I've thought about a nice street bike. I'm sure I'd get into too much trouble with the likes of a bandit, maybe something more sedate would be better for me. Something half way between cruiser and cafe racer would be perfect. A V-Rod Muscle or something from Moto Guzzi looks like fun...

I'm a bit late to the party, but better late than never. Figured I'd throw in my Bird and ask to be a part of this prestigious club.

I recently picked this Gibson Nikki Sixx Blackbird up from the classifieds here. You all may recall it was the one with the pickguard that a previous owner "made his/her own" by painting it red and black with paint and god knows what else.

So after a decent go round attempting to remove the paint, and one cracked, still paint covered pickguard later, I ordered a replacement clear acrylic one to keep in the original style. Since I can't get an original Gibson replacement because they keep them in some cave somewhereguarded by mystical goblins, I decided to "make it my own".

I present to you the War-Bird. Blackbird with a Warpig sticker under the new pickguard. This bass sounds massive and plays like it looks. In the past I've always overlooked these bases because frankly I didn't quite understand them. It was my loss all along because as you all know, these basses are unique and amazing. I am incredibly happy with mine and completely understand why people love them. I'm looking forward to seeing your posts and being a part of this awesome club/community.

Love the Wat Bird idea, that pig is perfect. And we have Larry V to lend a hand should you need any more PG's he does perfect work.

Thanks Nocturnal! I think I can find one on here somewhere. Trust me after the attempt to remove the paint, the damage was really too severe to salvage anything. I can try to post a pic here if the guard as it currently stands. It's not a pretty picture.

I just wish a Gibson replacement were obtainable because this bass definitely deserves to be intact. I get why they don't make them readily available to the general public, but to simply not help a legitimate owner with a parts request is frustrating. I've reached out to Gibson several times and have yet to get a single reply. Given the way things are going over there, I decided to quit holding my breath.
