Glad to hear there will be a good juror. I have no idea how it works in Kentucky. In California, most counties let you postpone one time for up to six months. We also have the one day rule. You show up the day your panel is told to report. If you’re not sent out to a courtroom, you’re done for a year. If you get sent to a courtroom, you have to go through voir dire which can take a day or two. Sometimes longer. Best advice if you’re put in the box for questioning, just tell the truth. Whether you’re excused with peremptory challenge or a cause challenge depends on the type of case, you’re background, how long the case will go, how much of a hardship it is for you to serve...it’s basically a crapshoot.
I’ve never been on a jury. No one has ever wanted me. My wife has served five or six times. My Dad got stuck on a Federal jury in L.A. for a month once.
With any luck, they’ll ask about your hobbies. Tell them you spend all your free time playing Thunderbirds and chatting with your Tbird friends on here. That might convince them you’re kind of nuts and they’ll let you go.
