Thunderbird Club

De Forrest Kelley was in a bunch of westerns b4 Star Trek. He always looks outta place.

Saw him in a Littlest Hobo tv show (or something to that effect...).
Looked outta place there too.

But he can boast one thing that most mortals can't: he's a big part of the crew (properly and figuratively) that played a heavy role in defining sci-fi tv shows.

Im getting ready to order parts for a bird build. Im at work and can't measure my birds at the moment so, does anyone know if I can get a bolt on bird body out of this chunk of alder from warmoth?
IDK 'bout that but you can get chunks of Honduran mahogany that are big enuff. Found some online-just outta curiosity.

You're killin' me! Up to this point I didn't actually know anybody with one! :woot:
I'd be okay with finding one cheap because a pup "didn't work". So did you ever figure out what was "wrong" with it?

We couldn't find anything wrong with it at all. The seller said that one of the pickups was dead. I knew I had an extra set of TB Plus so wasn't worried about the "dead" pickup. All we could figure was that he thought the tone knob was a volume knob. The way it's wired both pickups are on the first knob (vol), tone is the second knob, then the kill switch. We didn't even need to solder any loose wires or connections. The strings were dead as well so that might have added to the "deadness" of the bass. New strings, a cleaning, and it was ready to go!

I don't have any good pictures of it right now but this is it.

Yup @Nocturnal, I've consulted my horoscope, astrological sign and dating app and that's for sure the one for me! :woot:

I've even considered getting one of those Chinese knockoffs, but with my luck it would arrive with Coronavirus.:cautious:
The virus can't really survive on surfaces like that, so go for it.

I
Sweet! Happy to add you to the club if you like.

FWIW I like Mick Mars a lot, he may not be a stunning instrumentalist like Satriani, but he knew what worked for Crue and played within himself.

I've always liked this song, Mick's just a soldier, Vince aquits himself reasonably and there's plenty of detuned Thunderbird action from Nikki.

Guitars/musical instruments, paintings/sculptures, tulip bulbs, penny stocks and anything else that is a fad or for which there is not a liquid market should not be treated as investments. Buy them because they "speak" to you and understand that if you ever get anything for them, the proceeds are unlikely to cover the original cost let alone any maintenance/improvements you have "invested" in them. If you make a profit on them, it is unlikely to be a substantial return on investment when the time value of money is considered or if it does return a profit, consider yourself lucky (not smart).
Right on, right on, right on! Words to live by.

My all-time favorite show is still Joe Bonamassa, and those tickets run a pretty steep penny too. We lucked into 2 tickets through our local PBS station a few years back at a price we could afford. But if I had to actually pay market value for those we would have never seen him.
Saw Joe here. Took the wife for our anniversary--$75 each. Most horrible sounding concert I've ever been to. Ungodly loud for a small theater. Could have filled a 20k seat venue with more sound than necessary. I almost went over to the sound guy and said, "You know that sounds like crap, right?" My wife wanted to leave. It's a sin to charge that kind of money and have sound that horrible. Even wrote his website and venue. No response whatsoever.

I saw James Brown for free in Battery Park, which is right next to where I work. Best free show I ever saw.
In '78 I saw Molly Hatchet (after first album with Tom Dowd as producer, and when they sounded good), with Wet Willy opening for &1.02. It was a great concert. Both bands gave it all they had.

I listened to them in high school! I had a bit o a southern rock thing...
I thought they started out good but changed producers (to Ted Nugent's) and things changes, including their tone which got worse, IMO. I thought after the first album they might be something like the next Skynyrd. That didn't happen.

You enjoy metal, and might like Blackfoot. Kind of a harder rock band from Jacksonville. (Some of those guys from those three bands all knew each other.) Blackfoot was pure energy in concert. You left worn out. In a good way.
