I studied the guy intensively as a History major. Actually read the transcripts of the tapes. Seriously. acid or no acid, the guy was nuts. Scary nuts. Kinda like the g,,, nope won’t say any more. I like it here and don’t want to be banned.
I have never formally studied history, but I am a US history buff. And I have done something that I think few Americans have done - I have read (and understood) both the declaration of independence and constitution.

Nixon was an interesting guy. A puritan from California. The platform on which he initially ran for the Republican nomination was quite different from the policies thrust upon him by the party. The most notable to me was that he thought that criminalization of drug possession was poor policy; that addicts should be treated. Quite a progressive attitude for 60s establishment.

I did not know that about Nixon.

He was also bat crazy and paranoid. If he hadn't been off his rocker, he might have lasted two full terms. He did some thoroughly evil things and some enlightened things. The contradictions were endless. And, I will stop there.

I'm still plowing through Toynbee's Study of History. I'm about 20% into volume VIII, which means three more volumes to go. The tomes are endless. The observations Toynbee made that hit uncomfortably close to home are also endless.

I'm not formally educated in history, either. Reading is one of those things I rarely have enough time to indulge in, but when I do, I read thick, dry, dusty history books. It makes up for not eating dry crackers.

I think anyone working in the Whitehouse is wise to be paranoid. They* are out to get you! Politics suck.

* They being everyone; allies and enemies alike.

And joke time:

Americans dream that their children can grow up to be President. Canadians do not dream of their children becoming Prime Minister; we hope for better for our children.

will I need to file the nut for these. What are the pros and cons of heavy?

The heavier the gauge, the higher the tension for the same pitch. I wouldn’t recommend heavy for a beginner as you’ll likely get hand fatigue quicker than you would with mediums or lights.

Heavy strings like that set are usually used for playing in lower tunings. And the lower tuning brings the tension down to a similar place to medium/light strings and regular tuning.

You would have to file the nut slots.

There's a reason we get the candidates we get. Nobody with a right mind would run. Not such a joke, unfortunately. I'll really stop now.

I've seen a couple NR TBirds with a different tone control and input jack arrangement than mine.

As you can see below, my V/V/T knobs are in line, but in the shot a couple posts above it appears the tone pot and input jack positions are switched...(???)

I prefer the way your NR looks best. The other layout seems odd. Which is why I just can't buy the blue one above.
