They would be absolutely fine for short lengths anyway. Lock them down with the two screws and never have to worry about unplugging by accident.

If only whoever invented the HDMI connector had looked at the DB9....
believe it or not, XLR connectors were originally devised for AC power until they failed UL....the telephony world adopted them afterwards...totally agree with you on the DB9s....12 or 24Vdc is ok but 6SN7 plate voltages?...

I've seen a couple NR TBirds with a different tone control and input jack arrangement than mine.

As you can see below, my V/V/T knobs are in line, but in the shot a couple posts above it appears the tone pot and input jack positions are switched...(???)

The pics you’re referring to are of a 2013 with an aftermarket black PG. Yes, the pot positions are different on the 2013s. I do not know why that is. The 2013s were a limited run.

Looks like a slow commit today. My usual route is closed in 2 spots due to flooding. My main alternative has a 3 car smash, access down to 1 lane (from 3) and traffic has started backing up some kms.

plus the ceiling in the study is leaking water through. Just moved my PC.

NSW - we have it all. Drought, bush fires, and now big storm front with minor flooding.
Sorry for all your troubles down under. Keep safe, all of you. . .

Hi all. What strings are you guys using on the Bird? What is considered the best ones most people use. Thanks
See my post a page or so back. GHS Round Core Boomers, Fender Flats, TI Flats, TI Infelds.

Really depends on the sound you are going for. Provide that and you can be provided somewhat more useful suggestions. I've got four (5 if you count the old Embassy) and they all have different strings.

Side Note: It's wonderful that some posterior sphincter won't have the under-clever thought and say "search if your friend" in this club?!!! This is a good place and you'll get lost of good answers.

The building has no hot water either.

No television signal and no hot water ... we didn't do too badly considering the damage in other parts of the city/state.
I remember when "Sandy" hit Long Island. People were without electricity for weeks. I was lucky ( 1 week ), but gas shortages persisted for many weeks, with people lining up with 5 gal containers at gas stations that had both electricity and fuel, in hopes of getting some for their generators. I was on those lines and tempers flared on occasion. Ugly.

Not cobalt flats!

Carry on.

There are many strings here that various members like (ahem).

Rounds:
RS66
Black Beauties
DR Jonas Hellbourg
NYXL
...

Flats:
7ender flats,
Labella
...

What kind of tone are you looking for?
If you’re on a budget, Dunlop Super Brights sound great on a bird. So do EB Slinkys, but they die fast.

Won't tell you what *brand of* strings to use but really, you should be looking at starting out with medium gauge strings (~ .45-.105). I'm the sort of person who makes snidey remarks about being a 'bass' player, not a 'mids' player and medium strings work fine for me.

As a matter of interest, what don't you like about the strings already on the VP?

One other thing -- if you put a country/province/state in your personal details, it makes it easier for people to offer advice and recommendations. We promise we won't come over ... well @PillO might -- watch out for a man in a watermelon bikini.

You need that. Now.
That bass is either still for sale, or somebody's trying to flip it. It would be nice to have - and, scarily enough, I actually have the cash - but, I'm not overly fond of "collector grade" instruments. I have a couple of them - not really on purpose; just turned out that way - and honestly? I feel kind of guilty about taking them out to play them. And, the paranoia that comes with it kinda ruins the fun...

Hi all. What strings are you guys using on the Bird? What is considered the best ones most people use. Thanks
I think you mentioned that you have an Eppi VP. That's a fine bass and unlike many basses it takes to many different types of strings quite nicely. I'd recommend staying with a standard gauge unless you go Tapewound, in which case you can go with a light gauge so you don't have to refile the nut.

Of the standard gauge strings on the VP I've had very good luck with Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats, Fender 7150 rounds and DR Silver Star or Black Beauties. La Bella Black Tapewounds are an interesting treat and offer an ultra smooth easy to play feel. They might be one of the best strings for a beginner because they are so forgiving on improper left hand technique. Stainless steel rounds will be the least forgiving string but will force you to improve your fretting technique to get some very nice sounds. I personally like the Fender 7150 rounds and Cobalt flats best on the VP.

I must be a prehistoric alien, then. I think Cobalt flats feel like silk ribbons.
You and me both. I wonder if those that have experienced otherwise got a defective set.
