Not quite as cool as Kat's demo here, but last night I was playing with an EHX Electric Mistress XO flanger and was making some really fun and weird sounds, if impractical for whatever I do. I'm just hitting a B the entire time.

2013 Gibson Thunderbird > Damnation Audio MBD-1 > EHX Electric Mistress XO > GK MB150/112 > iPhone 7 Voice Memos app in front of the amp (super high tech here).

I use the D'Addario Black Nylon Tapewounds in medium. I almost forgot what brand, it has been years. They just keep on going and going. They start with a thump with lots of low mids and then have this little brightness as they ring out. The shortscale version in not too floopy and they don't rugburn you when you take a fast slide. EZ on the frets too.

... maybe.., I only know of Miroslav Vitous - and he did Eddie Harris's Freedom Jazz Dance (one of my faves! - dig that unison intro/lead-in line!) This was cutting-edge when it came out - I bought the LP new in 1970. Seasoned saxman Joe Henderson and the new monsters of progressive jazz/rock. A truly landmark recording.

I gots those on my Ibby semi-hollow AGB200. It's a 30.5" scale but because of the distance from 'claw' to bridge I needed medium length, otherwise the silks overlapped the nut on E and G.

They all have their charms. I am listening on less than competent speakers, so this opinion may change when good speakers get involved.

The JC sounds great. The other three sound far more aggressive. The Orville sounds a little less aggressive than the other two.

Listening with decent speakers has to happen.
