Thunderbird Club

Good evening Thunderbird friends. I hope all are staying well and ready for a relaxing weekend. I am happy to relate that the gig we played Wednesday night went better than expected. We were asked to play on short notice at a fundraiser for a young man fighting a serious illness. It was held in an ancient warehouse right next to the railroad tracks. It now houses a winery and a bar ( The Hogwash Whiskey Den!). With the current crisis we were glad to see the event was very well attended and that much money was raised. I was pleased with how we sounded and how I played. The sound check was shakey as the room was boomy and my DI was picking up radio! I hung a mic in front of the amp I brought and the crowd calmed the sound. Although getting over the cold from hell, I had a great time as did everyone on hand. We don't gig often so it is always an event for us. I am also determined to assemble a lighter rig!
I hope everyone is staying well and has a great weekend.

I hear yah - I was referring more to the 'colouration' (hue) - as sometimes on a '70s finish it gets more amber, and when Fender did their RI recently it was more grey/green. If I were considering that finish on one of my basses (I have actually) I would be very selective of the version I incorporated. I do like the example you chose. There are others I do not like at all.

Even T-birds come in unusual burst finishes -

Attsa nice!

It's called a "glitch" ... (computers suffer this as well...)

Replying to my own post! I just searched for an example of "glitch" which I had an impression of and found this - ??? More like easy listening techno ... glitch to me is as it sounds; disjunctive, jagged, rhythmic but not conventional - like the program skipped or slurred - what is this elevator music and why is it called "glitch" and tied to Japanese Anime???

Glad to hear the gig went well! And it is great that there was a good turnout for the fundraiser. Hope you get over the cold quickly!

For those of you wondering what the bridge pickup is for on a THUNDERBIRD, it’s for use with flats.
With RS66s, my VP was all about the Angry Piano. Sounds wonderful, but less thunder than I’m used to.
With Cobalts, the neck pickup is all about the thunder. The bridge pickup gets you back into angry piano mode but with less kerrang!
Mix to taste.

View attachment 3743271 Carpal tunnel decompression surgery went ok Tuesday, felt like id been hit with sledge hammer once the local anesthetic wore off, should have hit the ibruprofen straight away. And now four days later my hand is strong enough to fret, still tender but no great pain.
No throbbing or numbness either so its worked.
The Thunderbird has also gone under the knife, reworking top wing but this is on hold till my hand is fully functional.
