Thunderbird Club

That yours? If so, I didn’t realize or forgot. Mine’s still waiting on the Supertone to arrive. They keep saying should be soon.

No, not mine - found on the net. Those look nice though. It would be cool to do one like the reversed-bursts Fender/Kubicki did in the early '90s.

My brother is left handed but does many things right handed including playing guitar. In part because hand dominance is complicated and part because our dad always told him "it's a right handed world. get used to it"
yeah, can't help but wonder if he would be a better player had he stuck to playing lefty....I'm a southpaw too but play righty and sometimes wonder how my playing would differ otherwise...plucking hand being the dominant one and all...

View attachment 3743271 Carpal tunnel decompression surgery went ok Tuesday, felt like id been hit with sledge hammer once the local anesthetic wore off, should have hit the ibruprofen straight away. And now four days later my hand is strong enough to fret, still tender but no great pain.
No throbbing or numbness either so its worked.
The Thunderbird has also gone under the knife, reworking top wing but this is on hold till my hand is fully functional.
You’ll be better than ever - I can promise you that. I had both wrists done in 2005 and I was back playing the T-Bird and slapping my Kay UB within a few weeks of the surgeries. My carpal tunnel problem was a result of a culmination of years of labor jobs and doing intensive data entry for a 5 year period (after I realized that I wasn’t going to “make it” and become a rockstar playing rockabilly and surf); and the procedure ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made medically (second is my BAHA hearing aid which corrected my SSHL on my right ear). I’m so very glad I got my wrists worked on. Hope you heal up soon!

Sun and fresh air when you are able. Drink water *all day*... seriously be obnoxious abut that. Water keeps things like viruses from getting into your airway- drops them into your stomach where acids kill them.

And play those THUNDERBIRDS!! Scares the $^!# out of them...
Apparently the drinking water part has been debunked- my mistake there! Please disregard, shutting up now.
I try and know where I get info, but it's a jungle. Got snagged...

Thanks @BklynKen !

Well, he isn't that good right handed. I suspect he would be just as bad left handed. But together, our shortcomings cancel out and we sound great after a few drinks.

Actually, he never learned to play left, always played right. I think it is like playing hockey - there are plenty of right handers that play left and vice-versa.

same here...my 16 year old's class (800 of them) were testing this week....the district is scrambling to see how to resume activities online..
Spring break just started here and I won’t be surprised if they extend it.
Times are changing:
Last night’s recording session for my reggae band involved fist bumps instead of the usual handshakes/hugs.
And the singer brought pre-rolls for everybody;)

An outsider stopping by again...

Have a pre-owned Epi Vintage Pro on the way, should be here sometime late next week.

Is there anything that I should check or look out for in the terms of imperfections/flaws other than the "normal" stuff that one checks on every other bass/guitar ?

Thanks in advance for any wisdom that you might have to offer.

Woo hoo!

I don't think there is anything beyond the normal to look for.

Be sure to post pictures when you get it! And ROCK!

The pickup height screws are a little soft, so there may be some sharp edges. I spent few minutes with some sandpaper and fixed that.
Other than that it's normal setup stuff: nut slots, action, relief adjustment, intonation and pickup height.
