I hear yah - I was referring more to the 'colouration' (hue) - as sometimes on a '70s finish it gets more amber, and when Fender did their RI recently it was more grey/green. If I were considering that finish on one of my basses (I have actually) I would be very selective of the version I incorporated. I do like the example you chose. There are others I do not like at all.

Even T-birds come in unusual burst finishes -

That yours? If so, I didn’t realize or forgot. Mine’s still waiting on the Supertone to arrive. They keep saying should be soon.

View attachment 3743271 Carpal tunnel decompression surgery went ok Tuesday, felt like id been hit with sledge hammer once the local anesthetic wore off, should have hit the ibruprofen straight away. And now four days later my hand is strong enough to fret, still tender but no great pain.
No throbbing or numbness either so its worked.
The Thunderbird has also gone under the knife, reworking top wing but this is on hold till my hand is fully functional.
It gets better... I had both wrists done about 2 weeks apart.

Tylenol 3 was plenty of pain relief and I only needed it for a couple of days. After that it would get sore from long period of time with the hand just hanging (along with swelling). I was playing again (gently) in a week or so. A little playing at first and gradually more. Full strength takes weeks to return.

Plastic surgeons do the prettiest stitches.

Be well, and just do a little at a time and you'll be back in no time.

I would think a little light playing after an appropriate wait is good PT.

Still waiting to see a pic or vid of lefty experiment.

No pictures, no video. I was trying to run scales last night. I'm not sure what is more difficult - fretting or hitting the right string. I'm still not ready for a metronome with this experiment.

I have a whole new respect for all those lefty bass players. It is really difficult compared to playing the right way around.;)

Well at the suggestion/challenge of @BklynKen.

Look who has come to visit...

A Sqwar P in old man burst with a luncheon meat scratch plate.

It is rented for a month. I'm going to give it the weekend to see if I can figure out how to play lefty. If I can, it stays for a month or so while I get some active range of motion in my L shoulder. If I can't get it working by Monday, maybe it is a failed experiment.

So far: Wow is that ever awkward. How do you lefties manage to play anything!?
Great description of burst and tort.

I'm left-handed but use my right almost as much as my left, but never liked trying to play a lefty. Just weird.

Replying to my own post! I just searched for an example of "glitch" which I had an impression of and found this - ??? More like easy listening techno ... glitch to me is as it sounds; disjunctive, jagged, rhythmic but not conventional - like the program skipped or slurred - what is this elevator music and why is it called "glitch" and tied to Japanese Anime???

Uhhhh......:wacky:

Good evening Thunderbird friends. I hope all are staying well and ready for a relaxing weekend. I am happy to relate that the gig we played Wednesday night went better than expected. We were asked to play on short notice at a fundraiser for a young man fighting a serious illness. It was held in an ancient warehouse right next to the railroad tracks. It now houses a winery and a bar ( The Hogwash Whiskey Den!). With the current crisis we were glad to see the event was very well attended and that much money was raised. I was pleased with how we sounded and how I played. The sound check was shakey as the room was boomy and my DI was picking up radio! I hung a mic in front of the amp I brought and the crowd calmed the sound. Although getting over the cold from hell, I had a great time as did everyone on hand. We don't gig often so it is always an event for us. I am also determined to assemble a lighter rig!
I hope everyone is staying well and has a great weekend.
Great report. Glad you got one more gig in. I'm afraid I'll be relegated to house playing for a while, like many.

Glad your surgery went well. Take care and don't overdo it.

My brother is left handed but does many things right handed including playing guitar. In part because hand dominance is complicated and part because our dad always told him "it's a right handed world. get used to it"

Glad the surgery went well. Just don't push things too much before its time. You will be back to normal in no time.

Things are rough....They just closed home schools here. ;)

But seriously pubic schools are closed until April 10

Most schools here are on spring break so good timing on that. The district my wife works for was on break this week but have closed now for an additional 2 weeks. The class I am taking at a local community college (Guitar building class disguised as am electronics class) is canceled next week, but have cancelled all in person classes for at least this week.

Kids are on march break starting Monday. A couple of days ago the provincial government announced that schools will remain closed for an additional two weeks.

Is closing schools overkill*? Probably, but it is easier to dial back an over-reaction than to retroactively dial up an under-reaction.
