Thunderbird Club

First up today. I have the original poster that came with this record.

I have Rotos 77 flats on my VP. E string bridge saddle to its furthest extent like on yours. At first could not intonate properly on the 12th fret but found that rising/lowering action helps. Try to play with your action a little and I am sure you'll find the spot when your E string will intonate properly.
I am OCD when it comes to intonation
I am, too, but I hate high actions. I’m going to see if I can get away with lowering the E a bit more, anyway. Thx.

Hey guys, if you are interested please follow the link to my YouTube channel. I am reviewing my vintage bass collection and other basses. I am working to put up more, better quality content. Follow me so I can be a YouTube sensation.

I’ve been digging those. If I haven’t followed, I will. Keep them coming!

The Epi Pro is neck through with active electronics. The Classic Pro is neck through with modern Gibson PUPs. The Vintage Pro is neck through with copies of Vintage Pups. The only birds with glued/set necks are Gibson Studio models and non-reverse models. The standard Epis like the one you’re looking at are bolt on necks which are wider than what is on the neck throughs.
A little wider. 1.73” vs 1.5”.

Hello and welcome! Not trying to talk you out of it, but the Epi "Vintage Pro" might be the best sounding Thunderbirds around since the 1960s version. I have both and two VPs. They are wonderful and a great value if you can find one.

they are, but the standard blot-on he’s buying is a still a good bass and a steal at that price unless it has a real problem.

Mine doesn’t have noticeable neck dive. It doesn’t really do the angry piano thing, but not everyone wants that. It has all the low end thunder I could ask for. Plenty of sustaiN. My only gripe was that when I switched st string with long silks (Cobalt flats), the silks ended up over the saddles. A Hipshot Supertone fixed that.

Not knocking yer choice. I've just never been a "Stones" fan.:sorry: Maybe 2-3 songs outta their whole catalog.
I have grown to like the Stones over the years. The Beatles had 2-3 songs I liked and that was it. Appreciate the talent, but I was one of those people who said, "They are really a thing? Hum." Don't hate me.

We all gots different tastes/preferences. Lotta 'popular' stuff I don't like, some of my likes are kinda obscure.

They are. I'm thinking that used prices may be declining. I should have been more explicit about that.

Having said that, any existing inventory of new ones is probably substantially discounted too.

Not that I have seen. They're drying up at the old price so far.
