There is nothing wrong with the Classic Pro and I wonder if they are selling inexpensively now that everyone wants a VP.
Aren't Classic Pro discontinued?

May have asked this, are those Chinabuckers?

The Classic Pro is one I'm thinking of next.
Do you find a difference in tension on the E because of the longer nut-to-tuner distance?Left Is Right!!

Not that I can tell, the only thing I really notice is more "Oomph" in the lower Strings Tone Wise!!Do you find a difference in tension on the E because of the longer nut-to-tuner distance?
Although now that I think about it, the DR BB Tapered Heavies that I HIGHLY recommend may help with that!!Not that I can tell, the only thing I really notice is more "Oomph" in the lower Strings Tone Wise!!

For Sale - 1977 Gibson Bicentennial Thunderbird IV Bass Guitar

half the volume? sumthin' ain't right..The first is a 1996 V4-B (Blue letter). I bought it almost two years ago from a TBer just to have another if needed. It was mint. He retubed it with JJs and replaced a resistor. It sounds wonderful, but does have about half the volume as the 2006 BH below. I just use it in the basement so volume isn't an issue.
The second pick with Rubys is from a 2006 (one of the last V4-BHs made in the US). I was retubed about five years ago. Found it at Music-go-round. Thish was when my amp search ended! It had one issue with the DI out and while they fixed it I had the guy put pre tubes in. The power tubes were replaced when M-G-R took it in and went through it. Tubes were all matched very well. Shop closed and I can't find that tech now. He was good. Doesn't have the lack of volume some complain about--I think due to Will knowing what he was doing. I love this head.
Both sound their best with Thunderbirds!
Could be?my stolen one was just like that!![]()

They are. I'm thinking that used prices may be declining. I should have been more explicit about that.Aren't Classic Pro discontinued?
This! Fingers/pick, and picking/ plucking location from over the butt of the neck to the bridge make NRs very versatile! One of the many things I love about my 67 THUNDERBIRD IV is that if you play where the wear is on that one, the bass can be very 'mellow' without changing settings and then 'aggressive' just by moving your hand back to either in front or to the rear of the "hand rest".
Yes, that was something of a problem with some of those heads. None were as loud as the original V-4B (likely 120w), or the reissue of the original. Some of the BHs or Classic Series, seemed to suffer in volume for some reason. My first one didn't. I think in part because Will (the tech) knew his stuff and got the right tubes in matching them. (I'll PM you a post from TB where I guy talks about fixing the volume issue. I'm not tech, so he could be right or wrong.half the volume? sumthin' ain't right..
