Thunderbird Club

Thanks guys, sorry for the poor set list copy. We were Wyde Open back in the day, now thinking Full Throttle, but not much in the way of biker bars anymore around these parts. Not much demand for Brah Rock, but we enjoy playing this type of music so much, we'll just go the way of dinosaurs.

No, we don't do any other Mountain, deceptively difficult vocals.

Yeah, that was a deceptively complex band! Fantastic musicians, all of them.

Ha !!! Love it !! Just what we need to put smiles on our faces these days :).

Earlier this evening, I posted on my FB page the Flinstones' version of Surfin' USA, featuring the one and only Jimmy Darrock. Didn't get any likes, but I don't care, it made ME smile :hyper:. The only thing that would've made it cooler is if the bassplayer played a Thunderbird ...

I remember this!

I asked my cousin Steve if he could play his guitar with his feet. he just looked at me.

I bet Jimi could have. And did.

Dialing in my VP with the Cobalt flats, (105-45 IIRC)...
I have run the E string bridge saddle to its furthest extent. The open E is perfect, but the 12 fret is still a tad sharp (one bright red bar on a Korg Pitchblack). I can live with it, but ... dang it. All the other strings intonate great.

There’s a 12th fret ? :D

The R40(1x10) is 16#, R100(1x12) is 22#, R200c(1x15) is 34.5#. I have 1 of each.
The R40 at $199 list is the perfect amp. Gets loud enough to play out in “less challenging” situations. E
G&L headstocks. That have that deadly pointy thing for maximum carnage!
Ive never liked the look of that HS. Shallow. Passed on a good deal on a Tribute a couple years ago; could have got it for $250. Decent bass. But I’m now picturing it as a club from the lineage of those brought to England by Viking Marauders to use when plundering riches. When I think about them that way, maybe they’re pretty cool.

Hi,

I'm totally new here. :woot: I've been trying to post a thread about the possible purchase of an Epi T-Bird, but somehow I don't get to see the 'post new thread'button for this Forum Group. Do I have to become a member here somehow first or what? Any help is mucho appreciated! :)
Nah. Ask away right here. Everyone is welcome. You’ll get plenty of answers from the collective. Then when you get your Bird post a Pic and get a number.

"EPIPHONE T-BIRD ON MY RADAR"
Hi all,
I have a nice looking Epiphone T-Bird on my radar over here in Norway. It's a Tobacco Sunburst from 2006, Korean built, but to be honest I don't know any more about it than that and the pics I got. Anybody here who can shine some light for me, as to what series it is, an 'avoid' or not? Guy's askin' 2000 Norwegian Kroner, 200 euros approx. I'll upload the pictures I have Any help/info is appreciated!:)

The Standard Epi IV has a bolt-on neck, decent enough humbuckers, and a wider neck than the more expensive neck through Epi Pro, Classic Pro or Vintage Pro. They’re generally well made and are a gateway into the Thunderbird world. That plant in Korea turned out a lot of birds; I have two bolt ons made there around that time. The upper wing is slab, not shaped with a belly cut like more expensive models. The advantage to the bolt on is that it is easily shimmed if you need/want super low action. The main thing to look at is to make sure the three point bridge inserts are set flush to the body; not popping up. They can be glued in if needed, but if they’re coming up, negotiate a lower price. $200 - $250 is ballpark for those in the US. They’re nice basses.

What the h...? Gets me dizzy looking at it. My brain has to work too hard! Tuning it would drive me nuts. Very cool though!
Yup the tuning is a slight inconvenience but
The trade off is "perfect balance" while standing or sitting And the lower Strings getting more distance between the tuning key & nut gives it a bit more "punch" too!!
:bassist:

I have Rotos 77 flats on my VP. E string bridge saddle to its furthest extent like on yours. At first could not intonate properly on the 12th fret but found that rising/lowering action helps. Try to play with your action a little and I am sure you'll find the spot when your E string will intonate properly.
I am OCD when it comes to intonation

I used to have one like these for a very short time. Got it new and returned next day. It sounded good to my ears but it was neck heavy. Too much for me I couldn't deal with it. Moving strap pin into place of one of the plate screws did not help much. Maybe I was using bad strap... .
Anyway, it was a time when I was still looking for this one bass, and I figured that I can find something with a better balance.
Today I know that you can't play those Tbirds like you play 7enders.
I have Epi Vintage Pro right now as my only bass and could not be happier. It balances well even on my Dunlop standard nylon strap.
Have you consider VP or Classic Pro?
