If I recall correctly it was Enbassys with that honkin’ headstock, weren’t the Newports rarer? Not the Newport? That wold seem to be one few wold want. Sell today for a good deal less than old Embassy's do.

Nice set! I've never heard Needle and the Spoon covered! Love that song and love playing it.My T5 has been strung E-C for a week+, I'm not sure it's going to work out. I don't like the angle my fretting hand is in doing this, unlike my 4s. Even my B-Gs dont require it as much because I don't use the B in all of our set list, except for 2 songs tuned down 1/2 step, and even then it's just a couple of notes.
Oh well, I've got plenty of 4s, including the 2 Embassy's, and postponed ThunderJazz project (have everything but PUPs). Guess I'll keep the T5 in honor of Mike, and replacing it would be extremely difficult, not to mention pointless.
Speaking of set list, some day this one will be relevant again:

It's the same bass, but the Newport has one mudbucker right at the end of the neck. As far as numbers go, you have me at the disadvantage. The Embassy is just a glued necked, different shaped Thunderbird as far as I'm concerned. If I recall correctly it was Enbassys with that honkin’ headstock, weren’t the Newports rarer?
right but wasn’t there a model with a different headstock? maybe a 2 on each side instead of all 4 on the top side? thought that was the Newport..It's the same bass, but the Newport has one mudbucker right at the end of the neck. The two or three I have seen were 4 on a side, FWIW.right but wasn’t there a model with a different headstock? maybe a 2 on each side instead of all 4 on the top side? thought that was the Newport..
Wooooww. It's like a ... triple rainbow ...
I *love* this list. Do y'all ever play any other Mountain?
Funny, I also listened to One For The Road from The Kinks earlier.Huge.
And possibly my favorite version of "You Really Got me". Back and forth between this and the Kinks.
“I ain’t the One” ? Guessing it is not the song by The Angels / Angel City ?Thanks guys, sorry for the poor set list copy. We were Wyde Open back in the day, now thinking Full Throttle, but not much in the way of biker bars anymore around these parts. Not much demand for Brah Rock, but we enjoy playing this type of music so much, we'll just go the way of dinosaurs.
No, we don't do any other Mountain, deceptively difficult vocals.

Thanks man I really do appreciate that. Things will work themselves out, it's the not knowing that's killing me.If you need anything that any of us can do in this climate, we are here.
that’s it! they were posted as “Epiphone Kalamazoo Bass” on that Guitar Trader rag....From FlyGuitars

My '64 is basically a '64 Thunderbird with a different body. Doesn't sound identical to my Thunderbird, but pretty almost.
Seems the Newports were short scale.
I hear you on that one for sure. Thanks man I really do appreciate that. Things will work themselves out, it's the not knowing that's killing me.
Looks like a scarf joint looking for a place to happen. If you must break your neck, this is how you should do it ! Better than new now.
