Thunderbird Club

As a CroMagnon, heavy does not faze me much. It weighs less than the big rock I had to throw at a mastodon to get tonight's supper.
As an 'olde phart', weight fazes me a lot. The Kustom was replaced by a Rumble 200c which weighs maybe 1/4 what that beast did. Still, it did sound great.
Please take it easy on the mastodon population-I've heard they're endangered.

Cool old amps ?

2 pair. A pair of Eminars and a pair of Thunderbirds.

TC Electronics - light, loud enough and they sound great. Probably similar to your Rumble.

I have the 200c=combo. Maybe shoulda gone with the head and whatever cab, but liked the idea of one lightweight combo amp. I now have 4 Rumble combos +1 cab. I think I'm set.:smug:

I used to only have one amp; a SWR 400s head/Goliath 4x10 cab. Now, I still have that rig, also have a Mesa M2000 600w head/18" Carvin cab rig, my '76 B15N, my Ashdown 550 Spyder head, TC Electronics BG250 head/Eden 2X10 cab (for studio keys), the TC Electronics BG250 1X12 combo amp (live keys), and an Acoustic B20 1X10 combo amp. A couple of mainstays, a couple of backups, and a a couple of utility combo's for light-duty. Somehow it all makes sense.

I didn't list everything, there's more: 2 Peaveys, the Kasino, and a Bassman 25 plus a lotta PA gear I'll prolly never use again. 'Course if I sold it, then I'd need it within a month.:banghead:

I can be that kind of shallow for a cool old amp. Besides some of them have cool attributes- like being able to channel-chain on an Acoustic 140. Not their loudest head, and the eq is some simple, but you can get a cool sound gaining ther channels together.
Anyway. Basses are your tool, weapon, what you play. Amps, you have to have one, but some are cooler than others. But they're just amps at the end of the day. Gotta have one.
dunno..... I’d take a mediocre bass with a smoking amp over viceversa any day..

I remember someone likes these, @GBassNorth @Chucky Stiletti

it’s in California

Thunderfunk 750+
That's a pretty decent price for one of the best built and best sounding SS amps on the market. I've had the older 420 watt head for almost 15 years now and played it nearly daily without so much as a hiccup. A Dead reliable gigging dream with the super quick one knob tweak that dials in the acoustics of any venue. Built in high and low pass (and everything in between) filters. I'd place it just barely on the warm side of clean, obviously no tube breakup, tons of punch though. My 420 is screaming loud, I'd imagine the 750+ would have tons of power on tap for any venue.

I have an SVT VR gathering dust because the Thunderfunk sounds so much better. Having played through Mesa, Genz, Eden, Trace, Ampeg, Fender, Aguilar and Carvin amplification over the years, to my ears the Thunderfunk is the one to beat. It's a perfect match for Humbucker equipped basses (maybe due to Gibsons involvement prior to Funk picking up the line). My guitarist even plugged into it once and tried to trade me his Marshall rig for it.

I think it'll move pretty quick at that price. If I didn't already have one I'd be all over it.

Well, you don’t seem to be the type that makes waves. But at least where I live, if they let you go for that reason, it could be discrimination. Just providing an option.
I'm the coolest guy in the world............till you piss on me. At that point I cut a wide swath.

Amps breed in the closet, just like Thunderbirds. Who knew!

Stupidity is everywhere, not just Florida. They just tend to go and congregate there more than most places. Stay safe! Always carry a Thunderbird.

Small towns in the Laurentian Mountains (one of QC's cottage countries) were literally filled with people last weekend, taking in some fresh air and crowding small cafés, restaurants and sidewalks. Like shoulder-to-shoulder crowded. It's like people believe they're immuned by getting out of big towns. :banghead::banghead::banghead:. Obviously none of them are Thunderbird owners.

That is sweet. I so wanted a white sparkle Kustom (like that) when I first started playing. (although this gold example is pretty hot!) View attachment 3758320

Years ago, I stepped in for a friend in a one-off outdoors show and the amp in the practice room was a Kustom. Didn't know anything about them back then, but I remember the thing being loud and nice-sounding. How they sound with a TBird ?

............that's what 7enders are for.
Exactly. The Precision has a headstock with the worst attitude of any inanimate object I ever encountered. You have a much greater supply of that kind of orneriness to call into play. Gotta save the NR population until you have all of them, including the resurrected ones.
