Thunderbird Club

I’m proud to say Nels is my favorite guitarist. Bummed that I won’t be seeing him anytime soon with Wilco postponing their swing west. Should gone to their Mexico shindig a few months back.

Yep, my favorite guitarist as well. Saw/heard him a couple times last year w/different ensembles - always a treat.

Fun-time interlude...

I would so buy this.

That is sweet. I so wanted a white sparkle Kustom (like that) when I first started playing. (although this gold example is pretty hot!)

Flipped some discs today. Came across this one. Anyone else like Hooters?

I thought Andy King was a good player. Can’t believe this record is 35 years old.

They were HUGE for a while. When that album came out it seemed you couldn't turn on MTV without seeing one of their videos. They wrote some catchy songs!

I was one of the poor ones. Pioneer receiver. BIC table. Criterion speakers. Others had fancy Onkyo, Yamaha, dual tables, ESS speakers etc. one guy had B&O stuff. Seriously. In a freaking dorm room. But when I wanted to make noise, I hooked up to my Kasino 200 and cranked it.
Like this? Had it since 70.

Depending on whose thermometer you believe, it was somewhere between 91 and 95 at 3:30PM. Great time for a run! Only 24% humidity. I didn't feel sweaty until I got back inside.
I am so ready for a jam session out back. Today would have been perfect. Let the THUNDERBIRD soar with all the other birds of prey around here.
Yeah, lack of band time is making me a little antsy. At least I have drum tracks to work on. Tuning the concert tom kit up a bit helped with the sound, but I still suck. Practice!

I'm stuck looking at the gorgeous one nicely finished off with covers! That really turned out good.
Burgundy Mist Metallic is not for everyone. Just for people with good taste and dumb enough to have a perfectly good 'burst 'Bird stripped and refinished. Up close, you can tell it is pushing 30 years old and has been used and abused. When it was refinished, I asked Bad Mojo to leave the dents and dings. It is what it is. He had his problems with the finish, but in the end, it was worth the wait.

I've never been one to practice a lot. I'm not a soloist, per se, so I just run a coupla songs with fun bass lines a few times(drives the neighbors nuts). I s'pose I could do scales and stuff or play along with some old tapes(!)of old bands I was in just to see if I remember tunes and arrangements. Maybe tomorrow. Tonight I played the 67 THUNDERBIRD right up to 9:59:55 EST. Stopped b4 anyone could call on me. Hee-hee.
ETA: If I could get a clear pic of the Kasino, you'd see the volume-first knob on the left-is at 8 o'clock, barely on. Still loud as hell.

Nope. Survival is ther only thing on my list currently. And general maintenance. But I sure do dig it. Next year.
An outrageous padded sparkly Plush tube amp could modify my Acoustic Control habits a bit. I played through one once. Six KT88s as I recall for 300 watts. It weighed more than a 737 and could crank up louder than a 737. It was awesome in all ways. Plus red sparkle tuck n roll (the one I played through). But, it was not for sale. The one I missed on a few years ago did not have the same power and it was just black. But never mind. I still want one, even just to look at. I am shallow.

I can be that kind of shallow for a cool old amp. Besides some of them have cool attributes- like being able to channel-chain on an Acoustic 140. Not their loudest head, and the eq is some simple, but you can get a cool sound gaining ther channels together.
Anyway. Basses are your tool, weapon, what you play. Amps, you have to have one, but some are cooler than others. But they're just amps at the end of the day. Gotta have one.

I had one of these for awhile. Sounded great but too damn heavy for me to continue grunting in&out of the van. Sold it.

As a CroMagnon, heavy does not faze me much. It weighs less than the big rock I had to throw at a mastodon to get tonight's supper.
