right down the street earlier today -

Yeah, massive. Thunderbirds are not just for rock. Funny how every time I play a reggae bassline my rocker bandmates get this look of fear on their faces. I don't get it. Really guitar guy, can you hold off to the second beat?

I was just thinking about this, and it has been brought up before here. Even though i play 7enders. Tbirds can do it all contrary to popular belief. Proof that you can't believe everything you hear.
YMMV.... :smug:

My T5 has been strung E-C for a week+, I'm not sure it's going to work out. I don't like the angle my fretting hand is in doing this, unlike my 4s. Even my B-Gs dont require it as much because I don't use the B in all of our set list, except for 2 songs tuned down 1/2 step, and even then it's just a couple of notes.

Oh well, I've got plenty of 4s, including the 2 Embassy's, and postponed ThunderJazz project (have everything but PUPs). Guess I'll keep the T5 in honor of Mike, and replacing it would be extremely difficult, not to mention pointless.

Speaking of set list, some day this one will be relevant again:

those were always the lowest priced basses in the “Guitar Trader” flier we used to get monthly back in the day..

That's where I got my '64 II in 1978 - Guitar Trader from the East Coast. Was it based in New Jersey?

Reggae can start with the bass, but it moves air though the amp. Active basses with their massive low-end deliver big, pillowy bass and that combined with 18" drivers move the earth.

My white Thunderbird has been strung DGCF for about 19 hours. So far - I have to adjust to play Killin in the Name of in a different position, but I think Rock n Roll duty may be easier than in drop D. And I can capo at E and I have in effect a short scale Thunderbird that is easier to play while I work on external rotation.

Love that tune!!! Killin in the name of, that is.

I can imagine standard flats would retain the feel of a taut string being tuned down. Are you noticing any slack using rounds?

I have the 200c=combo. Maybe shoulda gone with the head and whatever cab, but liked the idea of one lightweight combo amp. I now have 4 Rumble combos +1 cab. I think I'm set.:smug:
Some of the newer Fender combos are crazy light. Had a 110 or 112 that weighed about half what my similar Ampeg 112 weighs. But I liked the Ampeg better and sold the Fender. Sounded better with a keyboard as well.

Exactly. The Precision has a headstock with the worst attitude of any inanimate object I ever encountered. You have a much greater supply of that kind of orneriness to call into play. Gotta save the NR population until you have all of them, including the resurrected ones.
G&L headstocks. That have that deadly pointy thing for maximum carnage!
