Thunderbird Club

Leo REALLY had it down when he designed his amps......he truly understood the needs of his customers..
notice the extra AC plug so that the amp would not take up valuable (and minimal at the time) AC outlets in older halls..

components were mounted on waxed cardboard boards where the wax would melt if a component overheated or failed giving any Radio/TV repair person (in remote or international areas) valuable clues in the absence of a schematic....although many amps of the time sounded phenomenal, these set the standard for roadworthiness imho...

Very nice commentary. I loved amps that had a plug! Might not have always needed it, but sure was handy when you did.

I was able to break out the airbrush that I got for Christmas, this has been on my bench for a while. Now I can move forward with it and get it off my bench. View attachment 3761613
There is-or at least, was-a real one being rebuilt at the Kissimmee airport. Same place you can buy a ride in a 2 seat P-51.

The outlet definitely came in handy though it might not pass today's standards.

A little bit of me making use of my day off this week. I get totally immersed in this kind thing, later I'm going to work on "Old Admirals" by Al Stewart, the horn parts on the chorus are something I'm struggling with still.

My feelings exactly. I'll just add this: I'm surprised Macca never used a Thunderbird. My guess is that Gibson never offered him one for free. Bad decision on Gibson's part.
Yeah, he played Hofner because it was inexpensive. Ric gave him, John and George their stuff. George played an SG on several later tracks, I think it came from Clapton. John was known to be fond of his Epi and Rics, but also played Gibson’s and 7enders. It’s almost as if Paul wasn’t picky about what he played. He could make anything sound great.

For some reason ( known only to her cat brain) no attraction to the SWR, cardboard on the other hand seems to be her opium.

We have combination cat furniture/scratching posts and they sprinkle little bits of cardboard everywhere, the little darlings. They have no interest in catnip or cabinet grille cloth.

Mine has no interest in catnip. That is until I brought home a catnip infused corrugated scratch pad. She'll lay on it or rub her face along the side.
