Thunderbird Club

I like the L2k pre as well--and the pickups and....well just about everything about the L Series. Wonderfully made, and that variety of tones! I foolishly sold my older blueburst. It was a little more sweet and mellow that the other two. I always wanted that setup with a blend and mid knob. Tried a M series which has one, but the PUs were too tame. I never use the bright setting, but use the active some, but mostly over time I favor "just" the passive qualities. And another cool feature with G&Ls is if the battery dies, you can still play in passive mode. Take that most other active basses! I must say that the L2ks tend to be the most comfortable basses I've played. As comfortable as my Thunderbirds. You would do one justice and should considering owning one. Even the Tributes are top notch.

I suspect the bass your built is fantastic in all respects. I could see myself in line behind JJR58 in wanting it.

:) Thanks! Having it out again got me thinking that I could build another just like it as all the same parts are available. But frankly I would only consider doing so as a commission and it would definitely be in FCS territory price-wise. Although it wouldn't have the FCS certificate - it would be every bit the same level of craftsmanship.

I am in love with that color! Inverness Green!
That is one of the coolest birds on the planet. I get weak in the knees when someone posts a pic of it on here....So I’m thinking. Pick up a VP blem and send it to one of the reputable refinishers. It would be worth it and still come out somewhere around $1000. A bargain for a unique bird when you think about it.

Do it!

How did I know you would be the first to reply. I just might. I have my PB NR now. I want a VP. Makes total sense. We’ll see how things shake out when this pandemic crap settles down and decide. Right now I’m not spending any money except for food. Filled up the Subie today for the first time in weeks.

Gotcha. And understood.

Today’s pull. Thought about using the pic on the back, but it’s a bit...well, we would be in trouble again. Mid-eighties, but tasteful production.Kunkel on bass, always reliable.
