Last car I worked on was replacing the radiator on a ‘94 Volvo turbo wagon. Almost killed me.Yep.
I used to do lots of work on cars myself. Now I don't want to open the hood - that is for the mechanic/computer technician.
Pretty much my attitude about my job....I am sure that there are things you would consider your time and talents wasted on. [/philosophy]
There is some serious mojo in that bird.
wonder what year it is...There is some serious mojo in that bird.
Perfect spot for light up TBird logo with an LED-or 2-in the ho....er, rout.
I read it's a '66. This is good interview, but doesn't mention the year.wonder what year it is...
Interesting. I have yet to meet a lawyer with high job satisfaction. They all range from blasé about their work to seething anger and waiting to suggest some unnatural acts to the partners.Pretty much my attitude about my job.
Yes (musician) people are definitely strange...and weird. Thankfully the subset of bass players that play Thunderbirds and belong to this club are cool.....update from Europe.... ordered a BaCH NR case from instrumentsonline.nl .....

...it‘s time for midscale or shortscale basses now ....
Unless you play with a pick. You are you, no matter what you play.
For Thunderbird players, 90% is in the fingers, 3% is in the headstock decal, and 7% is in the angst of wondering if the flying headstock will rip your face off.
That is the other 17% that Miles left out.Unless you play with a pick.
I was going out for a walk the other day when woman came by and said “I haven’t heard any music for a while” I replied “yeah the Covid thing stopped that” to which she replied “you should just go play at the school - people would love it!”I was emailing with my neighbor about this kid downstairs who plays the French horn and... isn't good, and not improving. She said, "Sadly, he’s the only live music I’m likely to hear for the rest of the year. Maybe you could play your bass a little louder if you’re still getting it out?"
Does anyone know what this bass is? Thunderbird-style body with a P-type pickup and a 2+2 headstock. It looks even more huge on her than most of the other basses she played!
Man. I’m really losing it. I realized I read that before but didn’t remember any of the details. This time I printed it out and and put it with my bass “stuff.” Might be an interesting mod to a VP some day.I read it's a '66. This is good interview, but doesn't mention the year.
Mike Watt Interview: the Gibson Thunderbird bass
I've seen a coupla ads from Japan that list a Suzi Quatro model that looks like that. Maybe the dreaded neckdive was too much for her?I don't know what the Thunderbird is (but I think it has been discussed here before) but it would look huge because, if memory serves, Suzi is tiny -> 5' +/- 3"
That pickguard... I wonder if the person that did it failed paper and scissors in kindergarten. This looks like a fun project.

Well, I work for a huge company. It’s a grind every day. My employer wants me to handle an impossible amount of work. The other side wants to screw my employer any way possible. It isn’t fun.Interesting. I have yet to meet a lawyer with high job satisfaction. They all range from blasé about their work to seething anger and waiting to suggest some unnatural acts to the partners.
If it is fun, I do not mind if I am lousy and awkward at it and it is hard to master. Eventually, the results get better. To be good at anything, you must first suck.We can';t all be good at everyting and we must learn to allocate our time.
I appreciate that there are other people out there to do these things; I do not have to be one of them. There is only so much time I can allocate to things (learning and practicing) and my time and talents are better employed elsewhere. Just as I am sure that there are things you would consider your time and talents wasted on. [/philosophy]
