Exercising your secret melon fetish...

It's OK. We won't tell anyone.

I have a question fellow Birders: Has Gibson ever released a TB with bound body and neck? Like a special addition or Custom shop etc? I’d be interested to see what one looks like. I bet awesome.

I feel the TBird body and neck would lend itself well to being bound. I ask because Gibson seems to release about every model with binding at some point.
Not that I've ever seen. I'm not so sure binding on the body wouldn't look good under certain circumstances and finishes. I like the neck as is.

But Thunderbirds need inlays. The Cadillac of Gibson basses needs more than dots. Anyone at Gibson listening?

Chuck got me thinking about black strings again. Black Beauties are back on for this weekend.

Sure. i just made a tentative decision to put DDTs on the white bird and you have to go and remind me how good Black Beauties sound. Now I will be rethinking that all weekend.

I wonder if I can buy some Black Beauties somewhere with a Thunderbird thrown in for free...

Well I don't know how they will sound in a live setting yet. They are somewhat visually confusing when I see them on the neck. I don't really care for how they feel. But...if they don't have that honk they did initially now that I've done some EQing and am using the Sonic Maximizer, they might sound pretty good. They will have to if they are to replace the Cobalt Flats from the top spot.

That was the deal I got. Paid $1k for strings, but got a Thunderbird with a Hipshot bridge and custom PG and TRC. Keep searching and you too can find a deal like that.

I spotted this in the classifieds. I know some of you appreciate these basses.

For Sale - Silvertone Danelectro 1443 Hornet Closet Classic!
Been watching it. Tempting and it’s actually pretty close to me. Can’t do it. I’ve reached the point that I need to chill on acquiring any more basses for awhile. I’m kind of surprised it’s still there, although price is high. That’s not to say it isn’t worth it, just that they don’t get the respect they deserve.

Braggart. I'm pretty sure mine has gotten worse. Wasn't sure it was possible, but I never cease to amaze myself.
Mine has definitely improved. I’m not practicing as much as I should, but more than in the past, and pushing I’m myself a lot more.

Oops, been away a week or so, now about 50 pages to catch up!
But first, I promised to report how the tone on the stock Orville 91 works.
Must say, difficult to hear with my old tinnitus ringing ears, but it seems, maybe, to do something from about 8, and then, again maybe, continues quite linear down to 0. But between say full, 7, 5, 3, 0 there is a clear difference. So works as a normal tone nob should, I think.
Now time for a morning coffee in the garden and catching up.

Gone a week and only 50 pages? We’ve been slacking then.
