I think the beautiful new one needs a matching Hipshot.

Oh YeahLove that finish! Stunning.

On the '06 I tend to like both PUs on full for a pick playing, generally. With the current strings (DR Black BeautiesLet’s talk some settings and tones. Now that I’ve had some more time to play my new Tbird.
First off this bass is super fun to play. It’s way lighter weight than it appears as well.
What is the consensus on setting Pickup height? On most my basses I set the pickups as close to the strings without hitting, usually for maximum output.
Will they sound better lowered down some?
So far my fav settings are tone on full, either both pickups on full or either one rolled off a tad. I can’t decide my favorite yet. From what I’ve played so far I feel the classic Tbird tone is Tone and both pickups full.
I’m not sure if I like the neck pickup solo’d but the bridge pickup solo’d starts to get into Ric territory which is pretty cool because I love Rics. Actually the feel of the Tbird reminds me more of my Rics than any other bass I’ve played. The ergonomics or neck-through feel or thin body or all of the above puts Birds and Rics in the same family imo.
Anyway, now I’m just rambling, but I’m loving this bass alot and I’m wondering where you all set your pickup height and what some of your favorite setting are?
Also I’d be curious if anybody makes a big single coil Bird sized pickup? That might be cool.
Damn! It’s a Picassobird!
Looks great! Good thinkin'!Soooooooooooo...I have officially lost my mind. Picked up a (quasi) bookend for my NR...

Caught it!...You had too many and fell over? But good save on the beer. Headstock OK?
That is how I have acquired all six of my Thunderbirds. My motto is be vigilant and ready to swoop in when something comes up at the right price. And "lost my mind" means I wasn't looking to spend the money, but a deal came along I couldn't refuse...

Well about playing Sunday... They clarified that churches were not included earlier this week. Today they are asked not to meet for two weeks. Don't want to seem unhelpful, but I'm far more safe there with all the precautions than Walmart, Walgreens and or a bar. Especially a bar where social distancing hasn't apparently caught on much! Officials are warning them to get with it or..... At least I finally for the 06 sounding good and can rest easy there!
