Thunderbird Club

Once you have a couple 'Birds, they start to breed when you aren't looking. Then you will find yourself with a whole flock of 'em. Not that it's bad...

Seems to be happening at my house too!?
NBD! It's basically mint. Not a mark on the body. A couple of pg scratches. Lol! See what happens to two Squiers(sorry for swearing)when they get sold! This thing sounds unreal. Love the hardware and the colour!

I've always liked that color combination - It's odd that Epi hasn't put chrome hardware on their other birds with any consistancy, it's really sparkle on the standard burst.

Here's your chance! No time like the present, buddy! :)

Tempted but I'll skip this time...

I do however have my eyes on an Eastwood Sidejack Bass VI... ;)

They did a limited run a couple of years ago in the colors Vintage Sunburst, Ebony and Alpine White, as well as the Silverburst and TV Silver ones.

my Bach fenderbird is still at the paint shop, the reverse Gibson will leave me (the nonrev is so much more haaawtness) in a trade for some $$$ and a nice golden jack casady.... still got so many Fender-style basses (2 P's a P/J and a J) I can't really force myself to get rid off, I'm a precision-Lover too :-D

I have a ton of TBird basses but still have a soft spot for the Precision. I have one P-type bass in the collection but it's a St. Blues P-J, not a 7ender.

My soft spot is the Precision, but i've got copies of them, tried a real deal MIM & didn't like it as much as i love my copies. & i really can't wait to build my thunderbird further, it's just sitting in a corner :(

I have a 1968 Fender Pbass and a 1991 PBass Plus (Boner bass) both all original and in excellent condition. Since I got my Gibson Tbird (and Gibson SC and EB basses) a couple of years ago all my Fenders have been sidelined. I take them out of the cases a couple times a year to oil up the fret boards and tune but after about 30 minutes of noodeling with each one I find myself reaching for a Gibson.
I keep telling myself I need to sell the Fenders, so one of these days when I figure out how to set up a paypal account to receive payments off they'll go to a home where someone will play them more than I do.

I have one P-J bass in my collection as well but it happens to be an 1995 Epi NR Thunderbird. ;):D

Oh... and it's a 5 string.

At least someone got it right... ;)

I have a Blacktop P, as the only 7ender in my collection... Sounds great with 2 humbuckers... :)

I've owned a few P's, but just can't ever connect with them. Just don't like the way they sit in a mix with me playing them and don't care for the necks.

I do have one beater Jazz that I dropped a G&L humbucker into at the "Stingray spot." It's fun, but just doesn't have enough "guts" for me most of the time.

Same for me Mike. My first bass was a USA 7ender, had to use it for trade bait a few years ago, still have a MIJ P and a Squier P (that I bought for $50). I've upgraded the pups in the MIJ
to SD Steve Harris pups but still can't warm up to it.

Jazz Special's are awesome IMHO! I had one for a while and only sold it to buy my Blackbird back from a friend. Those are my favorite P-type bass ever.

I still have two of those 4 string Epi NR's so I am covered there as well  I do have several other Tbirds with P-J pickups so I think at this point I have all the sounds I need. Not like that will stop me from buying another bass tho :bassist:

I have on 7ender bass, and it's a Road Worn P. I thought the whole relic thing was silly and still do, but it's so good that it followed me home. It sounds like only a P can sound. It won't hang like a Thunderbird, nor does it have the same kind of versatility that I get out of the various 'Birds, but it's perfect for what it does. Now that it's beat up for real, it's not as silly, either.

I was playing the 2001 last night. I forget what kind of strings it has on it. Some kind of rounds. Aside from the zinging noises that my fingers make on the strings because of the thick spots, it could make an amazing range of sounds. It was always clearly a 'Bird, but I'm beginning to think Gibson was doing something exactly right in the early zeros. Both the 2015 and 1991 have stubborn dead spots around the fifth fret on the G string. Not the 2001. The pickups are different from the stock 1991 pickups, too. I didn't like the stock pickups on the 1991, but they are great on the 2001. Chromed out 'burst looks stunning, but I'm a little nervous about changing anything and messing up whatever this bass has that makes it the way it is. It doesn't balance quite as perfectly as the 1991, but close.

They are like children. They are all different, and you love 'em all because they are different.

While we are at it. I have to confess, I am fond of P Basses and have a few- a 56 P, 69 Tele, 73 Tele, 73 P, 82 Fullerton 57 RI, 92 P Plus and a couple of more recent ones. I also have a couple of Jazzes but they have been series/ parallel modded.
Anyway, now that is out of the way, my Gibson TBird with the EY Humbuckers got another good run with me last night with a band in a pub. I reckon it sounds great, exactly what I had hoped for. Even got a few patrons come up and compliment the sound of the bass.
