Thunderbird Club

Thunderbird sighting in a sweet Jazz Funk setting, (roll eyes, one trick pony my butt)...

Great tone from the T-bird 5'r. However, at 3:39 he hits what sounds like a transitional 'clam' to my ear. He recovers quickly and finishes the outro back on his feet. :bassist: Wonder what amp he was using to help get that tone.

talk about when it rains....so we manage to find this really cool, excellent paying BIG outdoor venue for socially distanced safe gigs and now Sunday's gig is cancelled due to half of CA going up in flames...WT7 is going on lately??!!......:banghead::rollno::mad:..

In a manor of speaking, you are spot on ... when it rains, it pours. :help: The light in the field pic is amazing.

Is your 4-string Thunderbird a bolt-on? If so, don't they have wider nuts than the CP or Gibson? Basically, I'm not sure any parts are interchangeable between all the different models.

I'm not sure if anything from the Pro V would fit, either. A bolt on may as well be a completely different model when it comes to parts and pieces. It looks like every other Thunderbird if you don't look too closely, but I don't think there's much overlap. I sure like mine, but it is different. That's partly why I like it.

IIRC pick guards, TRCs, etc. are not interchangeable between models. Also, (again IIRC) the screw pattern on pick guards have changed periodically as well.

Yeah, this. Figure out what goes where before refinishing then retain/create the required screw holes (ahem).

You guys are right, of course
(as expected! :) )

The three 'birds I have currently are all Epiphone. But, after paying attention (I don't often do that, it's too expensive, and I have Thunderbird things to buy! :smug: ), there is shockingly little that is the same between them! Overall general shape, pickup placement, and...well not much else, really :jawdrop:

Discounting the obviousness that one is bolt on, the other 2 are neck-through, and one of those is 5-string...
Output jack: different on all 3
Knob layout: different on 2
Left/neck strap button location: one is different
Belly cutout: 2 have it, one doesn't
Pickguards: different on all three
From about the base of the neck, out to the end of the headstock (including the end of the body): all different on all three
Tuners might all be the same, except for the 1 reversed one on the Pro V

Don't know if this is news for the rest of you (or if you care ;) ), but it's been very interesting learning for me :bookworm:

Yeah, I get that feeling...last night it looked like it was snowing lightly; when I went out to do laundry/groceries/meds run today, my black Suburban was covered in white ash... :(

I tried to research to find out who he is. Struck out. Looks to be playing flats? Need to look at this on a bigger screen. Clam or no clam, I like it.

Here in SF - the air is smokey, the sky grey and ash has fallen. And we're going through a heat-wave. Add it to the list of the wrap-up of this f-d up year.

I like it too, as someone well versed in 'clams', it's just something I noticed... ;)

We certainly care. It’s how we all learn. The hard part is the remembering.

You will have added wxpertise, since you will have a Suzi Quatro Thunderbird and none of the rest of us have ever even seen one.
