Thunderbird Club

It is supposed to be an Epiphone, but it seems the factory mixed & matched a bit. Maybe all the Classic Pros are that way? Neither one of my Epiphone pickguards line up with the holes, even with the extras. For the TRC, I've got one Gibson one that fits the extra hole, and one that fits the other. The Epiphone TRC is too wide at the nut to fit at all.

Ultimately, it just means I've got to figure out the cosmetic bits, and which holes they'll be using, before I send it for paint. :meh:
Then everything will be using the correct holes, at least according to me :smug:
IIRC pick guards, TRCs, etc. are not interchangeable between models. Also, (again IIRC) the screw pattern on pick guards have changed periodically as well.

Figuring it all out BEFORE paint is always a good thing.
Yeah, this. Figure out what goes where before refinishing then retain/create the required screw holes (ahem).

1939? Is the speaker field coil? I am convinced that the sound and breakup that comes from the little '49 BR-9 amp is partly due to the speaker. I don't remember what preamp tube is in it. I may have put.a different tube in to get the preamp to break up at lower volume. It is not loud at all, but it sure sounds good with a P90.

Gibson made some amazing amps; they never marketed them well.

Spot on!
My main rig is powered by a Thunderfunk TFB420, best sounding SS head I've ever played or heard. It's a rebadged and updated Gibson GB440 and sounds great with all my Humbucker based basses.

Good afternoon folks. Beg pardon if this has been discussed, but I am hoping for some advice. As the pandemic wears on, and comfort levels and physical proximity continue to be issues, we are looking at rehearsing via Jam Kazam. I have to admit to severely limited computer skills. My bass teacher is offering to sell me a Akai EIE, the red, non pro version, to use as an interface. I have a relatively new surface pro, and just little computer speakers at present. Any advice on user friendly interfaces would be greatly appreciated. As would advice on Jam Kazam.
I am looking forward to getting back to rehearsing, and hoping we can make this work.
Take care everyone, and stay well.
