That OT looks small for 12w. What is it?
I was reacting to the idea that there was a 1981 Thunderbird. It would be the only one. Guitar Dater got flummoxed by the serial from my EB-2. That is a reflection of Gibson weirdness at the time, not the website. That came from this site:

1939? Is the speaker field coil? I am convinced that the sound and breakup that comes from the little '49 BR-9 amp is partly due to the speaker. I don't remember what preamp tube is in it. I may have put.a different tube in to get the preamp to break up at lower volume. It is not loud at all, but it sure sounds good with a P90.way cool 1939 Victor projector amp I modded for harp use......12 Watt of sheer class A no global feedback bliss....

I think the spec sheets are wrong.
Here's a pic of a 2013 classic pro IV

Clearly has a 9 ply center block.

2013 Epiphone Thunderbird Pro IV Bass Sunburst
A couple of thoughts. So far, from what I can tell:
Gibson pickguard?
Gibson size/shape/hole pattern TRC
Gibson pickups
Gibson size/shape neck, string nut
Epiphone tuners
Epiphone truss rod adjustment
Epiphone bridge stud inserts
Body maybe Epiphone, maybe Gibson, maybe not much difference, if any; not super relevant for my purposes (afaik atm).
Anything I've missed, or gotten wrong?

these had no built in speaker just a 70/100 Volt system output.1939? Is the speaker field coil? A couple of thoughts.
1. The Epiphone CP uses Gibson TB+ pickups
2. I noticed some extra holes drilled into your bass, like at the tip of the TRC, so I'm leaning towards an Epiphone that someone tired to shoehorn some Gibson parts into.

whatever it is, looks like it found the right home..It is supposed to be an Epiphone, but it seems the factory mixed & matched a bit. Maybe all the Classic Pros are that way? Neither one of my Epiphone pickguards line up with the holes, even with the extras. For the TRC, I've got one Gibson one that fits the extra hole, and one that fits the other. The Epiphone TRC is too wide at the nut to fit at all.
Ultimately, it just means I've got to figure out the cosmetic bits, and which holes they'll be using, before I send it for paint.
Then everything will be using the correct holes, at least according to me![]()
Is your 4-string Thunderbird a bolt-on? If so, don't they have wider nuts than the CP or Gibson? Basically, I'm not sure any parts are interchangeable between all the different models. It is supposed to be an Epiphone, but it seems the factory mixed & matched a bit. I like it when I find stuff I totally forgot I had. Well some of itI have a bunch o' [stuff] like that.![]()

So you could hook it up to the school speakers.these had no built in speaker just a 70/100 Volt system output.
Figuring it all out BEFORE paint is always a good thing. It is supposed to be an Epiphone, but it seems the factory mixed & matched a bit. Maybe all the Classic Pros are that way? Gotcha. I was looking at the picture on my phone and couldn't tell one way or another.these had no built in speaker just a 70/100 Volt system output.
And all else is irrelevant. It's going to be a stunner, and even better, it's going to be completely unique in ways that nobody but you (and anybody you tell) could know about. Then everything will be using the correct holes, at least according to me![]()
I'm not sure if anything from the Pro V would fit, either. A bolt on may as well be a completely different model when it comes to parts and pieces. It looks like every other Thunderbird if you don't look too closely, but I don't think there's much overlap. I sure like mine, but it is different. That's partly why I like it.Is your 4-string Thunderbird a bolt-on? If so, don't they have wider nuts than the CP or Gibson? Basically, I'm not sure any parts are interchangeable between all the different models.
exactly, or jailhouse speakers for that matter, anything on an old 600Ohm PA distribution system..So you could hook it up to the school speakers.
Looks like she's gone to the perfect home, lotsa lovin and care there.Wow...
