Thunderbird Club

We certainly care. It’s how we all learn. The hard part is the remembering.
Well there you go bringing up the fact that some of us have a number of decades and miles on the cranium that most certainly will be evidenced in some level of degradation in processing and accessing information that is there but...... What was it we were talking about?

Getting old ain't for sissies. A good number of the current crop of youngin's need to toughen up. No safe spaces in the real world.

Good afternoon folks. Beg pardon if this has been discussed, but I am hoping for some advice. As the pandemic wears on, and comfort levels and physical proximity continue to be issues, we are looking at rehearsing via Jam Kazam. I have to admit to severely limited computer skills. My bass teacher is offering to sell me a Akai EIE, the red, non pro version, to use as an interface. I have a relatively new surface pro, and just little computer speakers at present. Any advice on user friendly interfaces would be greatly appreciated. As would advice on Jam Kazam.
I am looking forward to getting back to rehearsing, and hoping we can make this work.
Take care everyone, and stay well.
I tried it a few months ago and used it to continue my jazz combo lessons. I dropped out when the teacher started using play along tracks with drums AND bass. He expected me to play melody lines along with the horns. I can fake my way playing bass lines by looking at the chords, but I can’t read music and found it too stressful.

Jamkazam can work, but for you and the others:
1) you need a hardwired Ethernet connection. Wireless adds too much latency. Does the Surface have an RJ45 port?
2) you need a good interface. My Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 is old, but it works with my 2010 iMac. My old M-audio USB interface does not.

I’m reasonably computer literate and it was a PITA. The trouble is the others that don’t have the ability to get a hardwired connection to their computer and/or the perseverance to get it running.

That said, the folks at Jamkazam are constantly working to make it better all the time.

Very. :)
260k+ miles, started life in NC, then to TN, now has the easy life in CA, hauling around me and my Thunderbirds!, only about 5k a year. While slowly getting the rest of the paint cooked off. Maybe it'll end up looking like Mad Max's Interceptor did in the last movie...:roflmao:
Mad Max?...this ought a get the attention of @RedVee...

yes, they crashed not because of the virus but rather some recently passed regulations known as the “Sub Contractor Law” affecting most freelancers, pro musicians included....

all for it - crush the libertarian greed

Thanks much Engle, I appreciate your thoughts on this project. I hadn't planned on it being hardwired, but that makes sense, even if creating logistical issues.

If that were a Thunderbird we'd call it mojo. ;)
