Thunderbird Club

nah, solely his request.... we were watching Ford vs Ferrari...
I enjoyed Ford V Ferrari. Really well done.

Cars was a good movie too - the urbanite coming to understand the small town. Cars 2 wasn't great - Mater did not have enough information to solve the mystery at the end. I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes of Cars 3, it was terrible.

And hey, to be real, I absolutely love my Cobalt Flats on my P-bass. They sound great -- really thick and middy -- just don't expect them to be bright or sparkly.

They're my overall Thunderbird fave. I don't want the bass to sound like a guitar with an extra octave tacked on. I want the bass. All. The bass. Thunderous bass. Some mids and highs on occasion, but lots of low end. I have been keeping the VP strung with RS66s and playing it some, but it just doesn't grab me the way the CP does with CFs.

I tried the CFs on the VP when it came in, and loved them there but decided to give the RS66s a chance. They do the angry piano thing well, making the VP an Angry Bird. There are just not many songs I play that call for that.

But hey, whatever works for you is the way to go!

So we know that you're all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
You're all 'bout that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble
You're all 'bout that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble
You're all 'bout that bass, 'bout that bass

This is a really good video comparing strings.

The lightest set (40/95) really did sound like a standard guitar but an octave down.
He got some early McCartney out of the 45/100 set (and the 50/105s).
The 50/105 finally got into what I think of as proper bass territory. Still no thunder.

The flatwounds sound great!
The tapes did some things really well, others meh. The harmonics really sounded good.

Very useful video, but I would have liked some very simple, short clips of each string back to back for a more direct comparison. At least he did a lot of the same things on each string gauge, which definitely helped.

All your bass!

(The video could use more bass.)

Thunderbird Thursday with The Nasty Habits.........................This was the sweatiest bar, what I would give to play there just now.

3/4ths of our group are playing a gig right now. Take a guess which one isn't playing.
remember-I don't have a smartphone-tm. Strictly the desktop.

Does anyone know of a place where I can find the USA hipshop ultralites mini clover tuners in chrome? The only place that I have come across that does have them is Hipshot.....and I don't want to pay $160 for four of them if I don't have to.
Well, they can be expensive. Call Best Bass Gear and talk to them. They’re nice to deal with and are an authorized dealer. They may be able to save you a few bucks. But if they don’t have them in stock, the wait may be longer than you would like. Sometimes it’s better to bite the bullet and buy them direct. Hipshot customer service is highly regarded by a lot of us on here.

If Hipshot is selling at the same price as best Bass gear, Hipshot makes less money on product sold thru BBG. You can call Hipshot and see if they will give a discount for buying direct.
