Maybe in my Ash/Maple Bird. I was thinking about putting it in my Burns MIJ NR, but the stock pickups are fine and it has a nicely aged 5 ply pickguard. In a 'Bird?

Interesting, my Goth pups are 13.8k and 14.4k.
My last Goth had a set at 14.7k
That's a lot more variability than I anticipated.
That sounds much closer to what I was expecting. On further review... Neck pickup 13.64k, Bridge pickup 14.36k
No. The graph is based entirely measured data. The L calculation is just based on the peak frequency and the capacitance. That sounds much closer to what I was expecting.
So do the new coil R values change any of the graph data you shared earlier about peak frequency, resonance and inductance?
There's a good grandpa!someone say grand parenting?...

Well I have called a practice (for next week 8 Oct); first one who knows how long.
NSW has just recorded 6 straight days with no (zero) community transmissions, so I’m hoping this may be the start of better days ahead.
Going straight into a Christmas repertoire hoping that by late Nov - early Dec Vinnies and the various nursing homes will allow us in again.
even if not it will be good to get the 8 of us back together and sing a bit. No idea if I’ll be on the bass or not, probably switch around a bit.
Cute kid, nice ride and Gramps with a smile on his face. Great day for the top down.someone say grand parenting?...

So, to help out the economy, you paid full price. Well done!New straps today! @JJR58 turned me on to Cali made Italia straps a while back. Made up @ChuckyStiletti ’s way. They always have 2 for 1 offers for mail list subscribers. And every few months there’s a coupon that basically covers the sales tax. So wanting to help our economy, I bought a blue one for the NR and another black one for one on the other basses. Here’s a pic of a couple bluebirds.

I always like a story of good customer service. I'm glad they got you sorted.View attachment 4002928
Finally got it. It took a couple of months but it’s here. Thanks to Epiphone great customer service.
With EB slinky’s intonation on E is perfect, unfortunately those Slinky’s are not my cup of tea. Cobalts flats are next to try.

with all respect due (would be so awesome if this method could be dialed in as it would make for an invaluable tool in quickly and accurately evaluating pickups) still don't get how a 5% difference in coil R would seem to indicate a factor of 2 in the L difference? ...we know L difference is a function of the square of the turns but even then.....doubt it's a different core between neck and bridge....everything else (Q, Xl, R, b/w) seems to add up...No. The graph is based entirely measured data. I'm with you on Slinkies. They felt good (nickel always feels nice to me), but to my ear were lacking bottom end and overall had no character. "meh" as the kids would say.
As for cobalt flats... My princess fingers disagree with them.
Yeah, there's something strange going on, I agree. The shape of the bridge plot looks odd to me, I suspect that the actual LC peak for the bridge is around 400 Hz but there's some other weird response going on that is producing the notch at 1500 Hz and an additional peak at 282.with all respect due (would be so awesome if this method could be dialed in as it would make for an invaluable tool in quickly and accurately evaluating pickups) still don't get how a 5% difference in coil R would seem to indicate a factor of 2 in the L difference? ...we know L difference is a function of the square of the turns but even then.....doubt it's a different core between neck and bridge....everything else (Q, Xl, R, b/w) seems to add up.....
I dislike ProSteels as I found the sound to be scooped. I never found then to be rough. But nor do I find RS66 to be rough. Cobalt flats however, my princess fingers can't tolerate.Exactly no character. The best results I got so far were with lo riders and rotos 77 flats. I heard that cobalts are rough for some. The roughest and stickiest strings I have tried were ddadario pro steels. Cobalts can’t be worst than pro steels in terms of roughness.
You're using those transducers, right? Did you check that their output, and the effect on the pickup of that output, is linear? The shape of the bridge plot looks odd to me
Great! I like Slinkys well enough but get that some don’t. They sound good to me after a good stretch. They are inexpensive, but don’t last all that long.View attachment 4002928
