Thunderbird Club

Brand new...$599.
Hanging up in the store since 11/19.
How is that even possible?
I mean, it wasn't Guitar Center with 90 to 100 basses to choose from...the one by me usually has a few.

Beautiful!
The VP is a fantastic bass, and that's a fantastic price! Happy NBD!
I have the Ebony VP, but every time I see a white one I drool all over myself.
When (if) the new Rex Brown TBird gets released, I'll be looking for a white one.

Thanks.
I was hoping Epiphone came out with a Bright Cherry one like the 2017 Gibson, but I've always liked white or black.

I know what I like, but the thing is, there are lots of great choices out there, I would include Seymour Duncan, I have also used the "ChinaBuckers" but find they don't have the "depth" of tonal response as the more expensive options
TLDR you get what you pay for.

Cool, thanks! I hadn't even thought of EMG or SD, probably because my first thought for this build is that I want chrome covers and rings... I agree with "you get what you pay for". I'm not opposed to spending the money for better sound, I just thought I'd ask here if anyone had tried the different models and had opinions. In any case, I guess I can't really go wrong with any of the higher end makers.

Congrats! Fantastic! You can't go wrong.

Played my white VP today (GHS Boomers). (String discussion: I was amazed how much the Cobalt flats sounded like Boomers.)

New strings for me tomorrow or the next day.
Probably chromes.
I have GHS black tapewounds on three basses.
Putting them on this might be considered going too far.

I love flats, but Chromes I don't care for on anything I've played. Wanted to, but just never worked. But Fender's, TIs and Cobalts sound great on Thunderbirds. (Though never had TIs on a VP.) Boomers, Cobalts, Stringjoys and Dean Markley Blue Steels all sounds fantastic on VPs.

I liked when Fender still sold their 9050 CLs.
They discontinued them, brought them back, and discontinued them again.

Okay, T-bird enthusiasts, does the new Vintage Pro have rolled fretboard edges?
(I've read that you can only expect it with more expensive basses.)

Mine feels the same as the other Epi-Birds I've got.
So I'm assuming not rolled?

Not related question: anyone know what brand/model strings come on the VP from the factory? (Epiphone website says only they're 45-65-85-105)

Mine kind of feels like it. It doesn't feel as "sharp" on the edges as my Goth does.
