Thunderbird Club

I love both the green, and the sparkles on that!

How do you like those EMG's? I've been curious about their Thunderbird pickups...

That bass is a Razor, love the pickups. Sonically it's not like any other Bird I own, and it's pretty rare, 1 of 56.

Otoboke Beaver is an all female Japanese hardcore band and their bass player plays a Thunderbird.

The song is mostly in English but you have to listen very attentively to make out what they're saying. The Japanese lyrics basically say "Don't light my fire unless you've got anything to put it out again!"

:laugh:Wow, reminiscent of days past with one too many mushrooms. (No that's not the name of a band, but it could work). ;)

These announcements are becoming too frequent. Yesterday was Hensley. Today another talent. Although I didn’t know about him, I’m going to do a bit of studying now.

Bummer. I knew of hum from Thunderclap Newman first.

yeah he was a fixture through some good bands down here.
From reading some comments it seems he was a bassist that the ladies did go for  .

he also got a call out in one of the La de da’s songs... Pretty sure the song (The Place - I think) predated the solo stuff.

Hey, look back there up against the bar?
Isn’t that Rockwell T. James, the recording star?

You're right!

If I ever have lots of money I don't need, I'd love to have have one of these: ns-2x (except Red, of course! )

I don't think I've ever seen a red NS-2X. Thats the USA Woodstock model and they are pretty pricey new or used. You can easily save a couple thousand bucks by dropping down to the Forte 4X (about $2000 used) but I've never heard of a red one of those either. Like it's big brother the NS it's also a neck through, so painting it can get pretty expensive.

Your best bet would be to get a used Legend X. They don't come in red either but it's a bolt on, so will be cheaper to have painted. Unfortunately it doesn't have the killer electronics that the other two have, but for a few hundred bucks you can drop a nice set of EMGs and a hazlab clone in it for the win.

And, it's your lucky day, look what's on Reverb...
Spector Legend 4x Classic in Black Stain Gloss | Barnett Music Exchange | Reverb
Figure $400 for a trans red gloss paint job to show off that beautiful quilt Maple top, and $300 for pup and preamp upgrades and you'd have a killer Spectorbird that would look awesome with that red mini ampeg rig.

I'm always here to enable your bankruptcy anytime you need it!;)

I do appreciate the help! - I have trouble finding things to spend money on :roflmao: :bored:

I've looked at the Forte and Legend series a bit.
There's a Legend X, like the one you posted, on eBay atm for $400 + shipping...
But I just bought another bass (non-Thunderbird  ), and a better/bigger amp is probably next on the list.

The Forte...I kinda figure if I can afford that much for a bass, it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to just go for the NS

A custom built NS (not sure if they even make the X body anymore) will run nearly $7000. At that price I'd start looking at vintage birds instead. Make a lowball $200 offer on the eBay legend, who knows you might just end up with it, that's how I got my Goth.

Buy, buy, buy!

Looks beautiful - congrats!
Thank you!

Very pretty view! Is that a golf course? Still in KY?
Thanks! It was the builder/developer's house for the development. He made sure his land was generally flat and had the best view. Also at the end of the road with no one directly across the street or to one side. It's a pretty house, much nicer than we needed or wanted, but had the largest walkout basement for my mother and located closer to family--and I just like the area. She has the same view out back as we do. Really tall ceilings even in the basement (just shy of 10'), so it doesn't feel like one at all.

Yes, still in Louisville. We lived on the SW edge of the county (which is the city), moved back up Dixie Hwy a little towards town. Still in what used to be considered outside of the city prior to merger years ago. I still live on the "poor" side of I-65 (West), just in one of the so called better neighborhoods now. We're kind of like the Jefferson's or Beverly Hillbilly's, take your pick.

I know the area well. Some very pretty property in that area. Rolling hills of Kentucky blue grass, limestone and shale outcroppings here and there, not far from beautiful river views. You're making me home sick.

That is exactly what I did with my Legend 4X. I added dual reverse P EMGs and a Haz clone. It sounded fantastic!! Unfortunately I sold it when I needed to raise a little quick cash and that was the first bass to sell, but I would do the same thing again if the opportunity presents itself. Its the bass on the right.

It's a Euro4 Rachel Bolan :)
a fan sent it to her a few years ago because they thought she'd like it. Turns out, they were right

Little help for the YouTube clip
(you probably didn't need it... )
From 2019:

While Ale does own a Euro 4 Rachel Solan, the two basses she’s playing in the photos from the NYC gigs are indeed Spector NS-4s from the USA custom shop. I was fortunate enough to be her bass tech for those shows. My older daughter and I had lent her those basses (they were traveling from Mexico and wanted to travel light). .

The Warning are an incredibly talented up and coming young band. They are very nice young ladies and their family and management are awesome.

Cheers!

That is great to know!

Finally moved in. Have no idea where anything but my basses are.....but we're here. Had to smooth over an issue with the guy across the street. The movers drove in a part of the dead end he mows and left ruts. (Suggested they not do that yesterday, but they did today.) There are some ruts in some grass, but I apologized and told him I suggested to the driver how to best enter the drive. We're all good now, but I did slip in later when asking what I need to mow that the the (his) property line was way back from the area he was complaining about. But we had a great conversation and it should be a good situation in the future. He even came over and talked nicely to the driver as they were leaving. Everybody has off days.

Got to relax on the deck few minutes, then back at it trying to get the cable service up and running.

Going to try to get some rest and the back to ease up. I'll try to do some catching up in the days ahead.

You're right, of course! I can blame it on poor eyesight from getting old, right?

Cool back story about an awesome band. If you get a chance to pass the word on, let them know if they're ever in the Los Angeles area and traveling light they're welcome to borrow any of my Spector basses...

... of course it'll cost them a couple of tickets. Love to see a rising talent make it big.
