Pretty sure Gary Thain of Uriah Heep used Acoustics too, back in 76-77 I played in a band and we shared our rehearsal space with some other guys and I occasionally got to use their bassist's Acoustic rig - it was fantastic with my 4001 Rick.

Now is as good a time as any for it to happen. It appears it is with the encouragement of creditors, primarily Fender, who can use the loss to offset it’s unexpected strong recent showing and get the GC albatross off its back. GC will reorganize, close some stores and see if there is a way to remain viable. The biggest uncertainty will be their used gear business since the ability to acquire used stuff will be diminished.
yep, we share a similar experience....rehearsal studio #2 at Musician’s Exchange (there were three fully equipped practice rooms) in Ft Laud had one and like you, I played my ‘74 4001 (white) through it...fun..I remember that setup worked really well when we covered this which had just came out...bought my first T-Bird soon thereafter.....

In the email notice I received, GC was referred to as "the parent company". First time I've seen that acknowledged.
Acoustic 371s! And he owned at least one Thunderbird.
Chapter 11 is often a reorganization. Doesn't necessarily mean going under.

361 stacks are even better. They were only rated for 200 watts, and thd was lousy, but somehow they have endless power and plenty of headroom in spite of the awful distortion rating. The distortion is good distortion to my ears. A 370 has a drier, harsher distortion by comparison. Given the choice, I will play through a 361 stack, a 320/408 stack, a 371 stack, and then Ampeg, in that order.
Back when they *were* cool. Now they’re just common.
Good to hear you and your family are doing well. I, like you, don't personally know anyone that has come down with covid but I am friends with a few nurses and every one of their messages are basically "wear a mask". I hope everyone does their part and stays safe and well.

I went looking for musician's friend bankruptcy and didn't find it. I had thought that perhaps GC had put their bad debts etc. into it and were running it through chapter 7 to get some relief. but it appears that it is GC going into chapter 11 with support from investors.
They got hurt in the current state of affairs. They had managed to get credit facilities some time in the last year or so that was supposed to let them keep operating for 3 years. So I wonder if this is a move to get leases reorganized (I suspect that they got no rent relief from their landlords) on better terms or have missed rent forgiven.
I don't think they are going anywhere. I don't expect they will be blowing out inventory. And I don't expect there will be any meaningful change to used inventory (continue offering low prices with the expectation of turning a quick 20-30% in a month or so).
